Willamette Valley Vineyards, the leading producer of Willamette Valley appellated Pinot Noir, is seeking a Director of Marketing to provide leadership, management, and coordination of planning and execution as it relates to marketing. The role will focus on positioning the winery and its brands to be the brand and experiences of choice in our segments. Our marketing programs are designed to share the company story, values, and brand promise to drive sales, awareness, and engagement.
Willamette Valley Vineyards owns and sustainably farms eight estate vineyards in some of the most sought-after sub-appellations and produces over 50 different wines to support its thriving direct-to-consumer and wholesale channels. The winery has ambitious growth plans to double in the next 5-7 years with the opening of Tasting Room & Restaurants and a new sparkling wine facility and brand called Domaine Willamette in the Dundee Hills. This position will be a key player in those plans.

Primary Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
The ideal candidate will promote a team-oriented approach with an emphasis on leading through inspiration and mutual respect. We are looking for an experienced, organized, detail-oriented, hands-on, and positive individual who manifests entrepreneurial spirit, versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work with a dynamic and fast-growing company.
Responsible for the development of short- and long-term marketing strategic plans to support the company’s initiates.
Creates and executes, with the marketing team, the annual marketing plans for consumer, trade, and ownership recruitment.
Supervises the marketing team (currently 7 and growing) including hiring, training, ongoing support, deadlines, and annual reviews.
Lead the marketing operational and capital expenditure budget development, adherence, and review of effort’s effectiveness.
Positions the Willamette Valley Vineyards brand as the brand of choice for Oregon Pinot Noir in our price segments.
Launches and propels Domaine Willamette as the standard for luxury Oregon sparkling wine to rival the best Champagnes.
Works closely with the Direct Sales to be the leader in wine and culinary experiences including supporting the Wine Club, Owners, Winery Ambassadors, Tasting Rooms & Restaurants, and E-Commerce.
Develops more wine enthusiasts into Winery Owners and provides a superior experience for Owners to celebrate their ownership and have pride in the winery they own through engaging activities, events, and communications.
Conducts customer, brand, and product research including focus groups and surveys to align the company’s offerings to our target market.
Builds marketing partnerships with associations and other organizations to drive lead generation and sales.
Develops strict brand standards and enforces them throughout the company. Ensures our brand promise is fulfilled at every touchpoint of the customer journey.
With the winemaking team and Graphic Design, coordinates all packaging needs and meets bottling and sales deadlines.
Leads new brand development or redesigns including design, story, packaging, digital presence, and launch activations.
Stays up-to-date with emerging marketing, branding, product or experience practices, inside and outside our industry. Applies learnings.
Cultivate relationships with traditional and new media, for ongoing press coverage, wine scores, partnerships, and awards. Host media tours and events.
Lead public relations activities with contractors including news releases, key media relationships, press mailings, and product submissions.
Coordinates all company photography and videography needs.
Assures team maintains digital archives of the company’s earned press, awards, and photography.
Supports Company’s effort to create a more sustainable and green environment to improve the company’s positive impact on the environment.
7+ years of experience in marketing management positions in a luxury consumer products or service company with a track record of successfully growing lifestyle brands.
A passion for wine with demonstrated industry knowledge and/or similar industry.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic organization.
Excellent time and project management skills with the ability to work until the job gets done under tight deadlines and to high-quality standards.
Exceptional written and oral communications skills.
High deductive reasoning skills and problem-solving ability.
Skilled in design with a creative eye and attention to detail.
Proficient in email marketing platforms, CRM, POS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite. Expert-level understanding of social media and digital platforms.
Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
