Harvest help needed at Popelouchum, a cutting edge research vineyard in San Juan Bautista, growing non-standard vinifera varieties as well as breeding new varieties and self-crosses. The work will involve the observation and recording of nursery plants in vine breeding trials as well as all manner of viticultural tasks - pruning, training, staking, etc.. Broader agricultural experience particularly welcome as olives, apples, pears, peaches and plums are also grown on site. This is an opportunity to participate in what is perhaps the most innovative viticultural initiatives in memory. A background in plant genetics would be quite useful for the position. The owner of the vineyard, Randall Grahm, has had some notoriety in the wine business for his creative work over the years with Bonny Doon Vyd. There is some potential for a longer-term position at the vineyard as finances may allow.
