Assistant Winemaker

Mill Creek Vineyards & Winery, located just outside Healdsburg, CA, is looking for an exceptional Assistant Winemaker. The ideal candidate is a quick learner and very driven. At least 3 years of hands-on wine production experience is required.

Ideally, the position would begin on August 16th, 2021, and the applicant would work alongside the current assistant winemaker until her departure after vintage. If you cannot start until after harvest due to prior commitments, please still apply but indicate as such in your cover letter.

The ideal candidate will be able to implement the Winemaker's wine making protocols and directives in an organized, timely fashion. The person is self-driven and can work largely without supervision during the off-season. The position entails all aspects of wine production including, but not limited to:

Vineyard Monitoring
Grape Sampling
Lab Work
Cleaning and Sanitation
Crush and Fermentation Activities
Barrel Work
Blending & QC Tastings
Fining & Filtration
Bottling Prep
Bottling
Inventory
Retail and Wholesale Special Events as Needed (4-6 days/year)

Required Qualifications:
College Degree
3 years relevant experience
Ability to read, write, and speak English
Ability to lift and carry 55 lbs
The ability to climb, twist, bend, stand and walk for long periods of time
Clean driving record
Flexibility to work weekends and long hours seasonally
Forklift Experience

Desired Qualifications:
Ability to speak Spanish
A degree in enology, viticulture or associated field
