Job Description:

Family owned for more than 40 years, Rombauer Vineyards seeks a dedicated and passionate Cellar Master for its Plymouth facility. The Cellar Master’s primary role is to direct work and assign job tasks for all activities of winemaking in the cellar, as directed by the Winemakers. This person would be responsible for planning and coordinating cellar and crush processing activities, planning manpower needs, and for the training, advancement, safety and evaluation of cellar crew members.

Responsibilities also include:

General -
•  Assists the Winemaking team in quality control throughout the winemaking process
•  Assigns daily workload to cellar production crew at the morning meeting
•  Works closely with Winemaker and Assistant Winemaker to ensure highest possible wine quality
•  Supervises all cellar functions including but not limited to sanitation, barrel preparation, harvest functions, barrel maintenance, forklift operations, filtrations and bottling to ensure quality and efficiency
•  Reviews all cellar work orders for accuracy before and after completion of work
•  Ensures accuracy and timely completion of tasks in the way the work orders are written
•  Maintains an organized and sanitized cellar at all times
•  Orders and maintains all cellar supplies and inventories

Harvest -
•  Oversees crush pad operations
•  Ensures winery efficiency and safety
•  Supervises seasonal cellar employees
•  Certified Weighmaster Deputy

Supervisory -
•  Completes cellar staff written evaluations
•  Trains, supervises, motivates, and develops cellar crew members (full time and seasonal) and ensures that they follow safety guidelines and procedures
•  Promotes a sense of job ownership and high morale in all cellar employees

Record Keeping/Safety -
•  Ensures that all cellar employees are supplied with appropriate personal protective gear
•  Promotes and adheres to safety program (including but not limited to; confined space procedures, storm water waste management program, lockout, tag-out, crush equipment and forklift operations)
•  Under the direction of the Winemaker, improves upon cellar protocol and standard operating procedures as needed

Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•  High School Diploma or GED
•  5 to 10 years’ production experience
•  Exceptional organizational skills
•  Good computer skills
•  Proactive, honest, and trustworthy
•  Fluent English and Spanish speaker
•  High level of effective written and verbal communications
•  Ability to learn quickly and adapt to change in a dynamic environment
•  Team player with a positive attitude
•  Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
•  Excellent ability to work with and for a diverse group of people
•  Demonstrated management experience, including excellent collaboration, team building skills as well as the ability to manage teams across split shifts

Preferred Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•  Bachelor’s degree
•  Ability to drive a car and a forklift
•  Ability to work split shifts as necessary

Special Requirements:
This position requires regular standing and walking. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. In addition, the employee is required to spend considerable time in confined or cramped spaces.

An employment offer is conditional until such time you have successfully completed and passed a pre-employment physical examination, drug screening and verification of a valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record with no suspensions or revocations conducted at the request of and paid for by Rombauer Vineyards.
