Job Description:

SUMMARY: The Duckhorn Portfolio Events Server – On Call helps to facilitate the set-up and execution of trade and marketing events using excellent customer service skills to ensure each function is executed with the highest level of detail and customer service.

•  Arrive to scheduled shifts on time, in uniform and with necessary service tools
•  Assist with the set-up and execution of trade & marketing events of the highest caliber that is in keeping with The Duckhorn Portfolio philosophy of quality wines presented with uncompromising hospitality
•  Review event menus to familiarize with wine and food being served at each event in order to address any guest inquiries, especially related to allergens/dietary restrictions
•  Routine set-up and break down of event spaces to ensure readiness pre- and post-event, including flatware and glassware polishing
•  Set guest dining tables based on provided table setting example
•  Provide wine and food service for events, including tray passing of wine and food for extended periods of time, pouring wine/water tableside, carrying multiple plates at once, pouring wine at service bar for reception-style events
•  Anticipate guest needs before requests are made; i.e. refilling water/wine glasses before empty
•  Consistently observe guests for quick response to needs
•  Adhere to sanitation, safety and alcohol beverage control policies
•  Approach complaints/concerns with positive attitude and involve Events Coordinator/Manager quickly

•  Minimum of two-years food service experience, preferably in the wine industry
•  Event service experience preferred
•  CA Food Handler Certification
•  Ability to acquire specific knowledge of The Duckhorn Portfolio wines and basic company history
•  Ability to work with Events Coordinators, other servers and culinary team members to ensure quality customer service; strong teamwork attitude required
•  Ability to deal with constant changes, think quickly on your feet
•  Must be willing to work flexible schedule with extended hours including weekends, holidays and evenings
•  Attention to cleanliness and safety
•  Ability to stand for long periods of time
•  Ability to routinely lift, including cases of wine, event rentals and other event materials
