POSITION SUMMARY: Directly responsible for company’s record keeping through general ledger month-end & year-end closing, as well as all related financial and sales reporting, wine cost accounting, and multi-location inventory management. The controller is also responsible for overseeing licensing and compliance.

The ideal candidate has a outstanding organizational and communication skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with a high attention to detail and accuracy. The candidate will embrace and implement new technologies where appropriate to build an efficient and scalable accounting and financial reporting operation. Must have a can-do attitude, be an enthusiastic team player and be self-motivated to work independently. Ability to adjust to shifting priorities, and the willingness to wear multiple hats are key attributes the candidate should possess to be satisfied in this position.

•  Manage the day-to-day accounting operations which includes GL, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Inventory, Cash management, Tax & Financial Reporting
•  Prepare annual budget and reforecasting throughout the year
•  Responsible for month-end, quarter-end and year-end closing procedures, reconciliations, worksheets and reports.
•  Prepare weekly team sales report
•  Communicate financials to senior management and key stakeholders
•  Develop and manage internal financial controls and procedures
•  Reconcile accounts quarterly to ensure accuracy and proper accounting
•  Maintain ShipCompliant and complete multi-state monthly sales tax and excise tax returns
•  Process payroll bi-weekly
•  Submit all payroll tax returns and pay related taxes timely
•  Maintain accurate and up-to-date wine-in-process accounts and cost and capitalize wine when bottled
•  Compile and submit all tax related documents to tax accountant no later than 45 days after year end
•  Request W-9 on all service suppliers and file 1099’s by January 31
•  Coordinate and reconcile monthly physical inventory counts
•  Manage and reconcile inventory at Fulfillment houses, Napa and Irvine Offices, and Tasting Room
•  Periodically analyze costs of logistics companies and inventory locations
•  Manage wine packaging and bottling schedules
•  Manage Grape contract schedules and reconciles actual tons and dollars by grower, to contracted amounts and budgeted amounts.
•  Maintain internal pricing, wholesale pricing, and product description documents for all sales channels

•  PCI Compliance and other credit card processing issues
•  Provide additional support to Owner/General Manager as needed
•  Manage 1 direct report

•  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field and 5 years relevant experience for a mid-size company is required
•  2 - 3 years accounting experience in the Manufacturing, Wine or Spirits industry required
•  Cost Accounting experience, preferably wine costing
•  Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
•  Experience with multi-state sales and wine tax compliance, a plus
•  Strong self-management and organizational skills with the added ability to take initiative, and work under pressure
•  Able to work independently, as well as inter-departmentally. Able to work well as a part of a team.
•  Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•  Highly organized, accurate, detail and multi-task oriented.
