Cellar + Every Hat at Small Napa Winery

Job Description:

Not your usual wine job. We're looking for someone interested in learning all aspects of the wine business at a small family winery in the Napa Valley; someone who thrives in doing a bit of everything. We're happy to train the right candidate who has an aptitude for learning just about everything there is to learn in a winery.

Job functions could include
- cellar work, harvest work, general production
- government alcohol reporting
- minor winery compliance (COLA label submittals, researching state direct shipper permits, etc)
- planning and order supplies for bottling
- pricing supplies at suppliers
- fixing leaking faucets
- hosting visitors to the winery
- virtual tastings
- interacting with past visitors to the winery (email, phone, etc)
- interacting with brokers, distributors, restaurants, etc (maybe not right now, but one day when they reopen)
- vineyard work (irrigation, pressure bomb readings, etc etc)
- resetting the router and yelling at the internet gods
- general troubleshooting problems
- etc etc etc

Education and Experience
- multiple vintages of harvest experience or equivalent time worked in a winery setting - looking to advance in the wine production world is paramount
- some amount of education would be nice
- ability to write coherently is a necessity
- experience in a tasting room, hospitality, etc would be fantastic
- some level of customer relations type job would be great

Skills and other Requirements
- **general wine production**
- outgoing, enthusiastic, personable personality
- willingness and ability to learn most things
- 'can do' attitude and generally self sufficient
- have to be computer literate at the very least - comfortable with simple edits in Adobe products, Microsoft Office Suite, etc
- more advanced computer knowledge even better - networking, simple html email templates, etc
- some level of understanding about simple plumbing (eg: fixing leaks), electric work (eg: rewiring a plug), etc would be great or the ability and interest to learn quickly

Yes, really everything. There is always something to do or learn and we're looking for that person who wants to learn how to do it. We need someone who already knows basic wine production and has the right personality but, otherwise, most things can be taught.
