Hertelendy Vineyards is a boutique Napa Valley winery that relies on direct-to-consumer and wholesale sales to upscale restaurants and retail businessesl. We are a small (1000 case production), exclusive, private winery with two tasting rooms. Since launching in 2016, we have advertised in major publications, and have grown a very strong online presence (and we're also in restaurants like The French Laundry).
Although we're growing our brand successfully, we are seeking a salesperson who can work full time in selling our wines. This position will be a hybrid sales position where this candidate will travel as needed and stay grounded as well to help grow the DTC sales. Having previously established relationships is a must for this role. We are in 11 states, and are currently seeking a confident, ambitious, and highly motivated salesperson who finds sales to be their strong suits. This candidate knows how to grow existing accounts and open new accounts, while representing our high end brand as a respected brand ambassador who offers outstanding customer service. Our challenge right now is that we are still fairly new, so not many people have heard about us even with 99 and 98 point ratings from the world's best critics. That is where you would come in with your likable personality and extraordinary sales ability to introduce our wines to potential clientele and close those deals. It will be your job to know where and how to find these people, and your job to work marketplaces.
Job Duties include:
—Selling wine in person, via email, and on the telephone to clientele, restaurants, and other high end locales.
—Pouring wine at specific local wine events when needed or for specific tastings if possible.
—Responding to customer inquires via telephone or written correspondence.
—Inputting sales orders from the Operating Management System into the Shipper's database (which we will train).
Ideal Qualities for this candidate:
—At least two years of relevant work experience within the wine industry (wine industry experience is mandatory for us).
—Excellent sales ability and personable top tier customer service
—Knowledge of how to grow sales for a high end DTC winery
—Must be sales motivated, possess an engaging personality and a passion for exceeding customer expectations and solving problems
—Proven leadership skills and a demonstrated track record of success
—Ability to work independently and flourish in a self-organized environment
—Attention to detail and follow through are a must
—Focused, has a positive outlook, is enthusiastic and creative
—Takes initiative, is reliable, adaptable and a team player
—Developing and maintaining strong relationships with buyers to capture new business.
—Must be able to work weekends and evenings as needed
—Must be willing and able to travel as needed.
—Proficient in POS (we will train) and MS Office systems
—Bachelors Degree and diverse work experience preferred
—Hospitality and wine industry contacts preferred
—Knowledge of wine industry and viticulture a plus
—Must be over 21 years of age, have a valid CA driver’s license, and ability to travel for events
—Must be okay with getting vaccinated because of CA state mandates on our upcoming future events
