Copper Cane is a young, fast growing, luxury wine company based in the heart of Napa Valley. Copper Cane was founded by Joe Wagner in 2014 and includes brands like Belle Glos, Napa Valley Quilt, Elouan and BOEN. Our hospitality business spans:
•  Direct-to-Consumer (DTC) which includes wine clubs, outgoing sales, etc.
•  Quilt & Co., our recently opened tasting room for the entire portfolio
•  AVOW, an upscale three story restaurant next to Quilt & Co. in downtown Napa
•  La Cana, a private ranch in Calistoga where Copper Cane’s guests get the ultimate Napa Valley lifestyle experience

The DTC Sales and Events Coordinator is an essential position on our DTC team. As the pandemic hit, our DTC business became a huge opportunity on which we capitalized. We have added headcount and improved our systems and we are bringing on line new DTC exclusive wines to offer in our recently launched tasting room. Our DTC business has some serious momentum and we need a dynamic and motivated player to help us build a culture of success.

This role is consumer facing and requires outstanding relationship building and selling skills. You’ll work with the DTC manager to create strategies for DTC success. You will also work closely with customers, club members and the trade on the phone and through email.

This position has 3 key areas of responsibility:

1. 70% Direct to Consumer
2. 20% Hospitality (this will increase as events come back on line post COVID)
3. 10% General operations

Key responsibilities and accountabilities
•  Create and execute marketing programs with Social Media and Phone Sales teams to ensure maximum results
•  Improve and implement processes to ensure efficient, effective and consistent business operations
•  Execute wine club processing, sales, wine club member care, returns, exchanges and cancellations using excellent customer service
•  Follow up to customer and club member inquiries about orders; provide excellent customer service in every interaction

•  Create and develop compelling hospitality programs and events at various locations to deliver exceptional and unique guest experiences, and drive sales
•  Schedule, coordinate and host private experiences at offsite locations with superior customer service
•  Proactively suggest improvements to exceed expectations in the guest experience, and to enhance the wine club and hospitality programs
•  Respond to customer requests, suggestions and complaints in accordance to department and company expectations

General Operations
•  Assist in the management of DTC and events budgets
•  Support the marketing team and other departments on an ad-hoc basis with event participation and other activities
•  Maintain departmental procedural documentation and ensure they are clear, complete, and concise
•  Maintain appropriate documentation to ensure clear and consistent communication within the department, the organization, and with customers
•  Other responsibilities and projects as needed and assigned

•  1-3 years of wine industry, specialty hospitality or luxury retail experience with an emphasis on sales and customer service
•  College preferred, with an emphasis on business management or hospitality
•  Systems knowledge:
o Ability to use Commerce7 for customer record maintenance, order entry and processing, sales reports
o Ability to use MailChimp to create and send compelling email campaigns
o Familiarity with wine DTC compliance laws with the desire to learn more
o Proficiency with Windows PCs and Microsoft Office
o Proficiency with Ship Compliant website regarding DTC compliance
•  Strong knowledge and appreciation for fine wine and excellent wine sensory skills
•  Comfortable in outdoor venues
•  Ability to speak to groups, large and small, without amplification
•  Be able to work independently with consistent self-discipline and follow-through
•  Ability to work a flexible workweek that will fluctuate from a Monday through Friday to a Tuesday through Saturday work depending on the needs of the business, including weekends, evenings and holidays
•  Employee may be required to stand or sit for periods of up to 4 hours at a time and 8 hours a day
•  Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs, including up and down stairs
•  Written, reading comprehension, and verbal English communication skills
•  Minimum 21 years of age
