Job Description:

The Duckhorn Portfolio family includes Duckhorn Vineyards, Paraduxx, Goldeneye, Migration, Decoy, Canvasback, Calera and Kosta Browne, each with its own dedicated winemaker. With more than 800 acres of renowned estate vineyards, along with grapes from the finest growers, each winery has a canvas of lots from which to blend its wines. SUMMARY: We offer guests a variety of tasting options, from seated tastings to more intimate educational experiences. The ideal candidate will engage, educate and entertain all wine enthusiasts, have an appreciation for the diverse wine and food culture and luxury offerings within the Napa Valley, possess a positive attitude and is an effective team player in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Providing guests with an outstanding and unique experience through:
•  A friendly and sincere greeting, using guest’s names when possible
•  Educate guests about our history and wines, including all eight brands offered at Duckhorn Portfolio
•  Anticipate guests’ needs and find ways to over-deliver on expectations
•  Assist guests with information and reservations at restaurants, hotels and other wineries as needed
•  Develop ongoing relationships with guests to stimulate repeat visits and future sales, including through Social Media
•  Host unique, educational tastings for all guests including Trade and VIPs, groups sizes 1-25 people
•  A friendly and sincere farewell, using guests name when possible
•  Monitor and maintain aesthetics of all areas with guest access

Daily Operations:
Opening Procedures:
•  Use POS Wine Direct system to open the registers
•  Calculate daily inventory for pour wines, open and taste for flaws and write out of inventory
•  Set up Tasting Room and Estate Room with placemats, glasses, tasting notes, water and all proper marketing materials
•  Restock cellar with current release wine
•  Break down and recycle all cardboard and glass

During Visitor Center Hours:
•  Use POS system to ring in sales and enter guest information into the database
•  Answer voice and email requests for tasting appointments
•  Package wines for guests
•  Answer phones when necessary and understand where to direct incoming calls
•  Assist with shipping orders, per manager direction

Closing Procedures:
•  Use POS system to cash-out the register and assemble the daily deposit
•  Enter daily tips from credit card transactions
•  Mark out any inventory from pour wines to sample wine via the POS
•  Break down tasting room and Estate Room, washing all dishes and putting away all marketing materials
•  Put away wines not used for tasting
•  Make sure kitchen is clean and dishwashers are turned off

Ongoing Duties:
•  Stay current on recent wine reviews and industry issues
•  Learn about other wineries and their wines; use that information to recommend other wineries with great tasting experiences for our guests
•  Actively participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings
•  Support the sales and marketing staff as needed
•  Conduct on-site tours as needed
•  Cross-train at other Duckhorn Portfolio Visitor Centers

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
•  Minimum High School diploma or equivalent
•  Minimum 6 months wine industry or hospitality experience
•  Knowledge of general winemaking and viticulture techniques or strong willingness to learn
•  Ability to acquire specific knowledge of Duckhorn Portfolio
•  Excellent communication skills
•  Ability to lift 42 pounds, on a repeated basis
•  Basic computer skills, including POS and reservation systems
•  Ability to work weekends (work week to include these days)
•  Ability to stand for long periods of time
