A medium size vineyard management company working primarily in Napa County seeks a Viticulturist to join the vineyard management team in monitoring and caring for client vineyards.
Primary duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Vineyard scouting for all vineyard pests and diseases
Irrigation recommendation and scheduling
General vineyard data collection, analysis and application
Assist in planning/executing the spray program. This will include writing work orders, scheduling equipment, purchasing materials, communicating with neighbors and
winemakers regarding reentry intervals.
Monitor and report on phenology and grape maturity. Assist in scheduling and implementation of maturity sampling prior to and during harvest.
Perform and supervise vine water status measurements via leaf water potentials and visual analysis on a weekly basis.
Understand and execute GPS and GIS data management to enhance operational efficiency and precision management.
Record all vineyard experiments, gathering data, and designing new ones.
Maintains accurate vineyard data in database
Quality control reporting on general labor, cultural activities, cultivation etc.
Fish Friendly Farming inspection controller and manager.
Assist in the production of client reports, including single and multi-seasonal data analysis
Experience with Organic Farming and Bio Dynamic practices.
This is a full time salaried position primarily working outdoors. Candidates must be responsible, be able to work independently and have the ability and willingness to work flexible hours, days and shifts, including early morning hours and weekends (Saturday). The position involves extensive walking over uneven ground as well as working in adverse weather conditions. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English.
BS or higher in Viticulture and/or Enology background
Agriculture or horticulture background
Valid Driver’s License
