Scheid Family Wines has an exciting career opportunity for a Quality Assurance Technician based at our Greenfield winery complex.

Founded in Monterey County in 1972, Scheid Family Wines is one of the fastest growing wine companies in the country with extensive estate vineyard holdings and a state of the art winery campus. In addition to our flagship Scheid Vineyards brand, we produce and market over two dozen core and exclusive brands including District 7, Metz Road, Ranch 32 and Ryder Estate.

SUMMARY: Under general supervision the Quality Technician will perform a variety of duties to ensure the highest level of quality in the Winery & Finished Goods Operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Quality analysis of incoming dry goods for bottling production
-Daily Preparation and verification of wine chemistry to meet winemaking specifications.
-Verification of wine, dry goods and coding for each bottling SKU
-Verification of sanitation: sparger, filler, leveler, corker and filter integrity
-Verification of bottle specifications before startup and throughout production processes
-Problem solving on quality issues with wine and bottling leaders
-Documentation of key metrics for data analysis
-Maintenance of calibration logs of all laboratory instruments
-Preparation of laboratory standards and solutions
-Direct communication with bottling line operators and production personnel
-General analysis and sampling of wine/juice samples
-Assists in special projects as needed
-Follows all regulatory and BRCGS food safety and quality standards including Good Manufacturing Practices

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BS in Food Science, Chemistry, or Microbiology with 2-3 years’ quality experience in a bottling or food production environment

REQUIRED SKILLS

LANGUAGE - Ability to respond to basic inquiries from clients and business affiliates. Ability to read and write required correspondence that confirm to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to co-workers, affiliates, clients and the public. Spanish speaking a plus.

TECHNICAL – Significant MS Office Suite/365 and database experience.

GENERAL
-Valid CA Driver’s License
-Must be highly organized, accurate, and detail oriented
-Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
-Must possess excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
-Must be able to work occasional overtime and be willing to have a flexible schedule
-Self-starter who can operate with little supervision

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and/or keyboard. Required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 40 lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. This job requires use of the computer and phone.
