Position Summary

Reporting to the VP, Marketing Innovation, the Director, Marketing Innovation - Beer Division is responsible developing the pipeline for our beer division. This role leads a team of innovation managers in the development of front-end innovation projects, taking new concepts through the early stage gate process and ultimately developing vetted concepts and ideas into commercial ready innovation platforms.

This role is responsible for new opportunity identification, pipeline project management, creative development, and research. This role is also the conduit between senior leaders and the innovation team to champion innovation opportunities across the business, including sharing of opportunities, insights, and recommendations.

This role requires a high level of collaboration across most departments within Constellation Brands, team leadership and a commensurate level of diplomacy and organization.

The Director role has a broad range of brand responsibilities including:
* Manage a team of Innovation Brand Managers and Associate Brand Managers.
* Oversee the development and execution of marketing programs and lead business analysis and project management.

* Oversee new product development and launch plans.

* Serve as the link between brand team's workflow and executive/team approval via consistent and open communication and feedback with Chief Growth Officer and Marketing Leadership Team.
* Develop strong working relationship with Brand Marketing teams to ensure alignment and consistent communication across various timelines, projects, presentations and workflow as products move from pipeline to brands.
* Oversee the development and execution of the Innovation brand presentations at key commercial and customer meetings. This includes liaising with internal team, external agency and coordinating content development.

Responsibilities

Innovation Strategy Development and Execution
* Develop and gain alignment on portfolio and brand specific innovation strategies
* Develop, test, and launch new products.
* Devine and orchestrate portfolio approach and prioritization to address consumer, varietal, and category white spaces.
* Lead the management of business relationships with agencies, vendors and CBI brand partners
* Lead the development and presentation of all Stage Gate documents to ensure sound financials and timely approvals
* Provide VP Innovation, Chief Growth Officer, and Marketing leadership team with continual updates/recommendations on pipeline brands and new initiatives

Commercial Collaboration
* Interaction with sales operations, sales force, and on occasion, key distributor personnel in support of sales efforts and execution of marketing programs.

Fiscal Discipline
* Ensure Innovation team puts financial vigor against development of new brand P&Ls (COGS, Pricing, etc)
* Manage pipeline brands portfolio budget

Leadership and People Management Skills
* Develop our talent. Coach BMs and ABM to success in roles
* Effectively partner with Brands Marketing and Marketing Leadership teams

* Develop innovation pipeline best practices to improve execution

Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in related field required
* A minimum of five years of alcohol beverage industry experience in marketing role
* 15+ years of relevant brand building experience, including Senior leadership experience in a Marketing function for a CPG company
* A deep passion for consumers and a curiosity for the drivers behind consumer behavior
* Experience and excitement for developing new products and businesses for large organizations
* Proven desire and ability to think strategically and creatively, coupled with financial acumen and strong analytical / problem-solving skills
* Managed a large marketing budget and worked with budgets, forecasts, and P&L statements
* Very comfortable with ambiguity with an ability to bring structure to abstract business challenges
* Proven experience managing, coaching, and developing a team
* Ability to focus on multiple tasks and deadlines, and effectively prioritize and manage them; strong attention to detail
* Strong teamwork skills with an ability to take ownership of projects and work with interdepartmental functions to achieve project completion in a smooth and timely manner.
* Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and strong project management skills
* A very motivated self-starter and be able to work without daily guidance
* Strong team player and collaborator with all internal / external stakeholders
* Extensive experience collaborating with external partners (e.g. advertising, design, digital, promotions agencies)

* Proven ability to analyze data, identifies opportunities, and develops business plans that significantly build the business
* Proficient PC skills (Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), syndicated database experience (IRI or Nielsen), custom database experience

Preferred Qualifications
* MBA (Top Tier preferred)
* Beer industry experience in either a marketing or sales management capacity preferred

Physical Requirements/Work Environment
* Physical Requirements: Requires the ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. It also requires sitting, operating a computer keyboard, telephone and other equipment, reading, talking and hearing for extended periods of time.
* Travel Required: >30%
