Hiring for a Wine Host / Wine Educator

Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard is currently looking to hire a few seasonal employees in our increasingly popular outdoor tasting room. We offer competitive pay based on your experience and can be flexible with regard to scheduling around other employment. This is a great opportunity to learn from industry leaders and expand your wine and hospitality resume.
Note: Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard and Standing Stone Vineyards are now under the same ownership.
Applicants will be considered for both Tasting Rooms.
The Wine Host is primarily responsible for w elcoming guests, educating guests and creating an overall positive impression of the wines and winery. They are expected to deliver genuine hospitality and efficiently and responsibly serve guests. They are expected to guide our guests through their experience while demonstrating a thorough knowledge of our wine and vineyard practices(training is provided). Wine Hosts should provide timely, attentive, and friendly service to guests, and respect and work well with other team members and management. We are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic while still following standard procedures and protocols.
Prior experience in the service and/or wine industry is preferred
Must be energetic, positive and possess excellent communication skills
Must be able to work during our peak times, including Weekends and some holidays
Must be 21+ years of age
Must be able to able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to carry a case of wine, up to 48 lbs. if necessary
Comfortable with public speaking – hosting and engaging small groups
Ability to multitask with several guests while maintaining a high level of hospitality
Knowledge of general winemaking & wine theory
Currently demonstrating a high motivation to expand one’s wine knowledge
Provide primary greeting and education for visitors upon arrival
Communicates in a knowledgeable, professional, and gracious manner with all guests.
Ensures that each guest is of legal age to consume alcohol by checking guest identification
Promotes the sale of our wines and otheWine Hostr products.
Effectively and appropriately represent the winery and brand
Educate guests on our highly regarded wines as well as winemaking practices & vineyards
Follow all laws regarding responsible serving of alcohol with guest safety as a top priority.
Maintain a clean and welcoming environment on the grounds at all times
Use the POS system with a high level of skill & integrity
Punctually and accurately execute daily opening and closing procedures
Maintain a professional personal appearance at all times while representing the winery
Participate in team meetings, educational seminars and events
Possess knowledge of the Finger Lakes Region including restaurant & hotel recommendations, activities & other winery or brewery recommendations
Work in a respectful and courteous manner with fellow employees and management
