Baystate Wine & Spirits is growing rapidly and we are seeking a Portfolio Specialist to cover our MA & RI markets.
This is a newly created position and the successful candidate will report directly to the General Sales Manager.
The Portfolio Specialist will be responsible for the sales growth of a segment of our wine portfolio consisting of direct imports and strategic brands poised for growth.
Working alongside our district managers and sales reps, this person will call on key accounts in both the On and Off Premise channels to increase the sales and visibility of these products.
This role requires 100% work in the field.
Portfolio Specialist Duties:
-Increase sales and visibility of assigned brands through daily account sales calls and customer education.
-Work with district managers and sales reps in the field to train on selling techniques for assigned brands.
-Maintain, develop and grow relationships within key account universe.
-Work with visiting winery representatives in the field to support sales growth.
-Utilize POS and sales support materials to accelerate product depletions.
-Attend weekly meeting with sales management team (currently done virtually).
-Attend and present information to the sales team during bi-weekly general sales meeting (currently done virtually)
-When applicable, organize and attend wine dinners, offsite, and virtual tasting events.
-5 years sales experience at the wine distribution or supplier level.
-Existing network of account relationships within MA & RI.
-Strong work ethic with desire to succeed, meet challenges, and exceed expectations.
-Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
-Intimate understanding of wholesale wine pricing & programming strategies as well as retail price points.
-Working knowledge of major wine growing regions and varietals.
-Ability to travel throughout MA & RI and a willingness to spend 100% of time in the market.
-Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights & weekends as needed.
-Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
