Grgich Hills Estate was founded in 1977 by Miljenko “Mike” Grgich and Austin Hills, of the Hills Bros. coffee company, after the Chateau Montelena Chardonnay Mike crafted won the now famous 1976 Paris Tasting, beating the best wines of France. Grgich Hills Estate remains family-owned and operated, practicing the art of winemaking by crafting food-friendly, balanced and elegant wines. We farm our five certified organic estate vineyards without artificial pesticides or herbicides, rely on wild yeast fermentation and use our passion and art to handcraft our award-winning wines.

JOB SUMMARY
Plans, directs, and/or coordinates marketing strategies and programs for a medium family owned winery. The Marketing Manager is responsible for being the lead winery contact for all PR and Media.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Marketing:
Identifies, develops, or evaluates marketing strategy.
Formulates, directs, and/or coordinates marketing activities or policies to promote products or services.
Develops pricing strategies while balancing firm objectives and customer satisfaction.
Oversees all events and donations to ensure winery participation is being properly leveraged.
Ensures historical winery information is accurate and preserved for future publications.
Directs training and performance evaluations of Assistant Marketing Manager.
Works in conjunction with direct to consumer and wholesale sales departments to develop valuable trade and consumer content, tools, and events including sell sheets, presentations, collateral, and creative briefs.
Orders and creates point of sale items in collaboration with sales departments.
Works with external vendors, graphic designers, and creative agencies to support the GHE brand strategy.
Initiates market research studies and/or analyzes their findings.
Evaluate and coordinate the winery’s presence at trade and consumer shows and events.
Educates staff on local, national, or international factors affecting the buying or selling of products or services.

Financial:
Develop and maintain Marketing budget in conjunction with GM - Sales and Marketing.
Uses sales forecasting or strategic planning to ensure the sale and profitability of products and/or services.
Negotiates contracts with vendors or distributors as needed.

Public Relations:
Develop compelling story lines for the brand in its history, appellation, vineyard and winemaking practices for wine media.
Lead PR for the winery.
Develop, coordinate, and direct winery communications, including g media relations activities.
Establish, maintain and nurture relationships and communications with industry and mainstream media.
Represent the winery by acting as the external communications spokesperson, being the primary contact for all winery communications with key wine and lifestyle press, trade and consumer groups.
Coordinate all PR/Media activities including samples and press releases for the winery.
Facilitate and manage media interviews and meetings.
Assist in issuing press releases, draft and place artic le s in relevant media outlets.
Act as main point of contact for strategic alliances and key industry groups like Napa Valley Vintners, Visit Napa Valley, Chamber of Commerce in St. Helena, Napa and Calistoga.
Attend important trade, media and consumer events, tours, and food and wine pairings.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in a marketing leadership role
Must be able to travel and work weekends as needed
GreatVines experience preferred
AMS (Advanced management Systems) preferred
Can lift 50 lbs., can sit and stand for long periods of time
