Job Description:

Vine Connections is an innovative leader in the alcohol industry, specializing in premium wine, sake, and spirits importing. This is a full-time position devoted to overseeing the sales efforts of Vine Connections in the Mid-Atlantic specifically in District of Columbia, Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, and North Carolina. The focus of this position is distributor goal setting, management and monitoring, presentation and education of portfolio, market work, and selling to key independent and regional chain accounts. The Mid-Atlantic Regional Sales Manager’s responsibilities include but are not limited to the duties listed below. This position will be remote and the ideal candidate be based in the DC area.

Distributor Management
•  Effectively set goals for all markets within region
•  Track progress, consult with distributor principals in those markets and hold them accountable to goals
•  Create programming and set pricing for all markets
•  Monitor distributor inventories on a semi-monthly basis
•  Monitor distributor samples usage on a monthly basis
•  Monitor distributor’s VC GP% vs target on a quarterly basis
•  Communicate monthly re chain channel pipeline development

Market Work
•  Call on accounts and perform portfolio presentations, with and without Distributor Representatives
•  Drive sales of Vine Connections’ portfolio to pre-set goals per market
•  Schedule and execute market ride-withs
•  Maintain and support relationships with accounts
•  Increase new business by supporting VC programming with distributors and accounts
•  Sell key Vine Connections brands/items as directed by management
•  Monitor on-site pricing
•  Sell in new products and work with distributor to maintain sufficient stocks per market demand or company directives

Account Development
•  Call on current and potential regional chain accounts, both on and off-premise
•  Define, support and build key account relationships
•  Own points of distribution (POD) & volume goals

Market Analysis
•  Analyze competitive sets & report quarterly on in-market competitive data
•  Sell in section resets
•  Monitor, report on, and adjust market pricing of VC items

•  Maintain consistent, effective communication with Vine Connections’ Office Team
•  Manager to provide information and market data as requested and ongoing through company CRM
•  Communicate regularly with distributor sales managers and distributor rep champions

Participation in tastings at
•  In-store account events
•  Consumer Events

Account Support (in-store/in-house)
•  Hand sell to consumer at both retailers and restaurants
•  Staff Trainings
•  On-premise night-time visits for “social call” or presentation calls

General duties include, but are not limited to
•  Participate in distributor sales meetings
•  Plan route and schedule for following week
•  Arrange samples for self and VC Champions
•  Develop and target account prospect list
•  Use GreatVines/Salesforce to track brand, product, account, and sales rep activity

•  Expectations are that 20% of your time will be spent outside of the greater DC-area market

The ideal candidate will possess the following:
•  Minimum of 5 years’ previous wine sales experience at the Distributor or Supplier level
•  Solid international and domestic wine knowledge and interest required
•  Proactive and creative solutions orientation
•  A history of successful collaboration with a team
•  Inspiring presentation skills, including written and verbal education experience required
•  Excellent organizational skills
•  Attention to detail and a strong history of consistent follow through
•  Upbeat, positive, outgoing, personable and able to relate well with diverse groups of people
•  Strong self-management skills, including the ability to take initiative, multi-task, work well under pressure, and take direction
•  Computer and software skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. Depletion tracking software experience is a must.
•  Must reside in DC area
