Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Drive the profitable development of The Hess Collection Winery by developing and managing Marketing strategies for the portfolio to meet relevant consumer needs. Contribute to the success of the company by demonstrating thought leadership and creative, entrepreneurial solutions to achieve company goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
1. Strategic Business Leadership
•  Lead the creation and activation of annual brand plans aligned with brand positioning, leveraging the most appropriate elements of the marketing mix to deliver step-change improvements to business performance and consumer engagement. Work up, down and across the organization to secure consensus and buy-in. Work with field sales to ensure national programs are being effectively implemented at a local level.
•  Lead bi-annual update of the Five Year Plan (5YP).
•  Partner with Marketing and Creative Services Manager to
1. Develop messaging/content for selling materials, P.O.S. merchandising, brand advertising, digital properties and training materials;
2. Act as project manager to prioritize incoming creative services requests from the field;
3. Oversee agency briefings and management as necessary.
•  Review and analyze results of each initiative; develop and execute changes to continually improve effectiveness.
•  Work across the organization to resolve inefficiencies and barriers to success in areas such as pricing, distribution, supply, production, promotion, budgeting, and planning.
•  P&L responsibility for Brand spend; input to total spend across PR, trade marketing and digital spend.
•  Initiate and manage new product development as needed.
•  Oversee the development of holistic marketing programs across varied platforms, including print, web, email and social media, to accomplish Marketing and DTC goals.
•  Ensure marketing and branding message is consistent with Brand Marketing standards across all channels and consumer touch points.
•  Manage the allocation of limited inventory wines across targeted markets.
2. Analytical Excellence
•  Extract breakthrough insights from a wide range of data to inform business decisions and create opportunities for growth.
•  Expert understanding of categories including key drivers, overall competitive framework, brand/product landscape and consumer preferences/trends.
•  Anticipate future trends to stay ahead of competition.
•  Input on company data sources and research strategy, mentor others on analytical thought leadership.
3. Leadership
•  Cultural leadership—positive “can-do,” entrepreneurial attitude; build consensus and trust through integrity and sound, well-reasoned decision making
•  Lead, mentor and develop Marketing employees as a senior member of the team

•  Strategic Accounts Marketing Manager

•  Ability to work under pressure while managing multiple projects and priorities under tight timetables. Flexibility to adapt the game plan as needed to support the organization’s larger needs.
•  Demonstrated ability to develop and execute highly impactful merchandising programs.
•  Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
•  Strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
•  Bachelor's degree required; MBA in Marketing preferred
•  10 years progressive brand marketing experience with demonstrated success across both premium and luxury segments. Trade marketing experience preferred.
•  Wine industry experience and familiarity with the 3-tier distribution system strongly preferred, experience managing a large wine brand (100k+ cases) a plus
•  Previous sales experience, and/or relationships with key industry gatekeepers (restaurant, retail) a plus.
•  Multi-channel direct-to-consumer experience a plus.

•  75% of time divided between meetings and desk work – will require long periods of sitting.
•  25% of time will require walking, standing, bending, driving and lifting (must be able to lift and carry a 9L case of wine, up to 40 lbs)
•  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
•  Travel will be required, though annually not anticipated above 25%
