We are looking for an experienced, driven professional to join our team as Director of Wine. The Director of Wine will be responsible for the wine product category. You will keep abreast of the latest trends to create disruptive innovative opportunities across the brand. You will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure the parameters of the product development timeline, budget and schedule are followed. You will manage, develop and inspire the product development expertise of direct and in-direct reports. The Director of Wine will report to the Chief Growth Officer and will work closely with the Supply Chain and Marketing teams.
Here’s what you’ll do:
In collaboration with the CGO and CEO, define the vision, growth opportunity, trends and goals for the wine category and develop strategic plans to achieve these goals
Identify and develop new products, develop new industry relationships, including with growers and suppliers
Develop and lead the wine team
Manage wine education and content across platforms
Manage and build upon the product plan while maintaining constant pulse of market developments, including Field and consumer needs, competitive offerings and brand position
Strongly influence wine product support groups (Field, Marketing, Brand and Supply Chain and Compliance) to maximize contributions to business
Partner with Brand, Marketing, Supply Chain, Field and Compliance to ensure alignment and maximize performance against overall business objectives
Develop perennial and seasonal products in collaboration with Marketing and Field
Prioritize and manage multiple projects with a high level of detail in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Monitor, analyze and report on business performance and identify trends to maximize growth opportunities
Lead by example in creating a collaborative, innovative, results-oriented environment characterized by timely, accurate workflow and production
Here’s what you must bring to the table:
Bachelor’s Degree in enology, business, food science or related field; MBA preferred
8+ years of experience in the wine industry and/or CPG space; some wine industry experience is required
4+ years of team leadership experience
3+ years and proven track record of operations, project and/or change management experience
Knowledge of government regulations, especially TTB
Strong leadership skills and demonstrate a high degree of collaboration with peers and team members
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills demonstrated by the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
Passion for wine and the industry along with considerable knowledge of wine styles and winemaking principles
Strong understanding of the principles of corporate finance, financial analysis, accounting, valuation, and micro economic principles
Successful track record of taking projects from concept to commercialization
Strong negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with cross functional teams
Impeccable written, verbal and presentation skills, high attention to detail, ability to multi-task and to take initiative
High energy with an entrepreneurial drive to succeed
Able to deal with pressure in a fast-paced environment
Be both a visionary and a fire-starter
A positive thinker and receptive to feedback and direction
