Job Description:

The job of the Team Leader of Wine is to assist in running the store; creating an environment where customers come to shop for the most unique and best-valued wines in the area. The Team Leader of Wine oversees Wine Consultants and Event Coordinators ensuring that employees are providing incredible, knowledge based customer service by assisting customers in choosing the right product which compliments their meal.
Providing Incredible, Knowledge Based Service
•  Lead employees by example to provide incredible customer service; proactively approach customers on the sales floor, make recommendations for food and wine pairings, help them locate items and answer any questions about products or services offered
•  Seek to educate self and further an understanding of wine and the wine industry, share acquired knowledge with employees to ensure they are educated on the products available and have a solid understanding of wine to better assist customers
•  Educate both customers and employees by setting up and facilitating tastings throughout the store
•  Utilize passion for Wine and Spirits while educating others on wine and fosters a culture of continuous learning
•  Exhibit expertise and knowledge of the wine industry, wine production, and varietals from around the world
Continuously Improving Results
•  Perform tasks essential to the proper functioning of the store including keeping a simplified backroom, order with Simplification practices in mind, training & development, scheduling, and inventory control
•  Make procurement decisions with the business in mind; work with vendors to procure products at the best possible price
•  Work with Store Manager and Team Leader(s) to utilize resources such as Menu magazine to plan for seasonal displays, products, and focus areas
•  Understand consumer trends and product movement, including seasonal influences, using this knowledge to accurately forecast needs and order while maintaining Simplification practices
•  Ensure products are well-merchandised in innovative and eye-appealing displays that reflect featured items and highlight seasonal wow items, best value items, with the aim of promoting products and driving sales
•  Work with vendors to ensure product mix meets the needs of customers while separating the company as a destination in the local and national marketplace by offering the finest French wines and event planning guidance
•  Ensure appropriate inventory levels and an efficient replenishment process are in place and followed
•  Work with vendors to procure product for special events and tastings
•  Manage store operations and team members during early morning, late evening, nighttime and weekend hours; and in the absence of Store Manager

Required skills, learnings, and experiences
•  Knowledge of, passion for, and experience working with wine
•  Experience and knowledge with food and wine pairings
•  Proficient in Windows based software including Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
•  Customer Service experience, preferable in a food retail, grocery, restaurant, retail or liquor store setting
•  Ability to create a one-of-a-kind shopping experience for customers and ensure they are always provided the highest quality products and services
•  Developing others by providing encouragement to folks to take on tasks that challenge them and align with their personal career goals while holding frequent development discussions using performance and development tools to coach employees who need help and further development
•  Demonstrating an ability to manage others by working with employees to set and achieve goals, rewarding performance while exercising courage when providing honest, timely, and actionable feedback
•  Control inventory levels and expenses such as payroll and shrink to impact bottom-line contribution (profit) for the department/store
•  Work towards continuous improvement to encourage change; find ways to increase profitability and productivity; and improve processes, products & customer service in the department/store
•  Use data analysis, wisdom, experience, judgment, and past actions as well as input from other sources for decision making, always considering the impact on customers, sales and contribution (profit)
•  Practice proper planning and staffing techniques which include managing time and resources
•  Maintain a safety focus by ensuring safety standards are followed, teaching safety practices to employees, looking for ways to improve safety, solving safety problems, and looking for ways to exceed safety standards and reduce risk potential
•  Practice proper ordering techniques to complete orders by deadlines and participate in inventory process to ensure items are available to support merchandising programs and product promotions
•  Exhibit merchandising skills by attractively displaying products considering seasonality, cross merchand
