The Tasting Bar Manager is a key member of the Griffo Team and oversees all crucial points of contact with our local community. The Bar Manager is responsible for the day to day operation and promotion of the distillery Tasting Bar. This is a great opportunity for someone with a passion for hospitality to take ownership and thrive with a growing small business.
Visioning & Leadership
-Work in tandem with distillery owners to define and implement a unique, inspired and coherent vision for Tasting Bar
-Develop seasonal cocktail menu
-Oversee and implement small but super merchandise program (mixers, bar tools, apparel, etc).
-Track all expenses for Tasting Bar and events; generate monthly financial reports
-Keep finger on the pulse of current trends in cocktails, craft spirits and tasting rooms/bars
Bar & Event Management
-Manage Tasting Bar inventory and supply ordering
-Manage private and public tour bookings through website, phone and email
-Ownership and execution of Tasting Bar events, including annual Cocktail Competition and Holiday Event, monthly comedy nights, and other small events to generate bar business through partnerships (such as Wine & Canvas, etc).
-Manage and prep for offsite store tastings and other events
-Manage private event rental program: The distillery is available for rent for private events (about 5-10 rentals per year). The Bar Manager will own the whole private event process from first contact with client to drafting contracts to managing day-of operations (existing system in place).
Management of Bar Team
Lead Tasting Bar staff day to day operations and quality of performance to ensure top customer service to all guests.
-Manage all of the Tasting Bar staff scheduling for bar and occasional offsite store demos and events
-Develop and lead ongoing education of Tasting Bar staff to ensure that they are well versed in the process of distilling and the world of craft spirits and cocktails (we can train you on this!)
-Generate and demonstrate enthusiasm for the brand, products and company mission
-Work in tandem with supervisor to select top talent and manage new hire process
-Establish the tone of leadership and empowerment of the staff by creating a positive and respectful work environment by leading through example and consistent with Griffo values
-Provide immediate, respectful and constructive feedback both positive and opportunity areas on staff performance.
--Work with supervisor to develop Tasting Bar marketing strategy and promotions calendar
--Design and produce printed POS material (menus, promotional signage, etc).
--Responsible for fielding all info@ email inquiries
--Oversight of phone system
--Ordering/stocking marketing collateral
--Manage Donation requests and fulfillment
--Handling all PR inquiries and arranging interviews with owners
--Implement Tasting Bar marketing activities through such channels as Email, Social, and Square
--Oversee promotional programs such as Groupon and Google AdWords
Hours & Schedule: Full time exempt position. Schedule is Monday-Friday with some flexibility. Must be able to work Fridays 12-8pm and occasional nights and weekends to cover bar shifts and for events.
-Management experience in hospitality, events or similar field

-Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar system
-Proven ability to work with little supervision and follow directions
-A can-do attitude and a sense of humor
-Ability to stand for long periods of time and to lift and move cases of spirits frequently
-Ability to climb, kneel, and stoop to organize inventory and merchandise
-Knowledge of, or eagerness to learn about craft spirits, the spirit making process and the art of the cocktail
-Must live in or near Petaluma, CA. Relocation expenses will not be covered
Additionally Desired Qualifications:
-Experience executing marketing activities through email and social channels
-Basic graphic design abilities
-Experience in event management
-Aptitude for analyzing (sales) metrics to inform decision making
-Bartending or culinary experience
-Experience in the Northern California restaurant/beverage industry
-Familiarity with marketing
This is a full time, exempt position; salary consummate with experience. We offer generous PTO, sick time, access to corporate rates for mobile phone and gym membership. Monthly product allotment.
