Obsidian Wine Company, home of Poseidon Vineyard & Obsidian Ridge, is looking for a harvest cellar intern for the 2018 vintage. We are seeking motivated, hard working, and detail oriented cellar interns to help make 2018 the best vintage ever. You will work within a small, highly experienced and dedicated winemaking team on all aspects of harvest winery operations and have exposure to some extremely talented, successful, and well known winemakers through our custom crush program. Previous cellar experience a plus but not a deal breaker. Harvest positions start the first week of September and run through mid-November. We also have a spot for an early starter, joining our team in August to help us prep for the vintage
Job duties to include:
• Various aspects of winery operations and crush work
• Operation of harvest equipment
• Equipment sanitation
• Wine/must movements
• Additions to wines/musts
• Fermentation monitoring
• Barrel work
• General winery clean up
• All cellar crew members should work well with others and independently
• Prioritizes daily work to ensure efficient use of time and completion of assigned work.
We are focused on making the finest wines from our estate vineyards aged in our proprietary cooperage. We make Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from our Napa Carneros property and Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah from our hillside vineyard in the Red Hills of Lake County. The right candidate will also work with some of the finest Pinot Noir and Chardonnay the west coast has to offer through our custom crush clients and be exposed to various talented, well respected winemakers and their unique winemaking styles. Obsidian Wine Company’s production winery is located in downtown Sonoma.
