Delicato Family Vineyards has an exciting immediate career opportunity for a Utility Systems Engineer at our Manteca, CA winery.

This position is responsible for overseeing the design, installation, startup, operation methodology, preventative maintenance planning and capital investment requirements for key utilities infrastructures including ammonia refrigeration, glycol, electricity, natural gas, nitrogen, compressed air, solar and other applicable utility systems. The position directs and collaborates with engineering, maintenance, and operations to ensure the long-term functionality, operation and required maintenance of safe, efficient, cost effective utility networks among numerous facilities (Manteca, Central Coast and Monterey).

* Responsible to develop user requirements and oversee design, install and startup of new utilities
* Responsible to develop and update preventative maintenance schedules and applicable upgrades to support safe, efficient and cost effective long-term operation of utilities
* Understands, adheres and participates in Process Safety Management & Risk Management Plan (PSM RMP) programs
* Determines critical spare parts and/or back up resources to ensure continuity of business
* Ensures long term quality electrical supply with minimal disruption to operations from voltage fluctuations or power outages
* Responsible for keeping facilities up to date with the latest programs to avail of incentives and rebates from energy efficient fixtures to demand response programs
* Partners with environmental to ensure systems and related programs meet and/or exceed regulatory requirements, sustainability initiatives, etc.
* Works with PG&E and electrical systems to maintain quality service with minimal disruption or damage to equipment due to voltage fluctuations or power outages
* Educates and trains maintenance technicians and operators on best practices for operating, maintaining and troubleshooting utility infrastructures
* Develops 3-5 year capital expenditure plan for utility equipment/infrastructure prioritizing importance by specific needs
* Develops operating methodologies to ensure efficient and safe start, run and shutdown of multiple utility systems based on seasonal requirements
* Ensures utility systems are efficient, operating at peak performance with minimal energy waste
* Develops and executes long term plan to comply with mechanical integrity and other key audits on ammonia, electrical, compressed air, nitrogen and other applicable equipment/systems
* Troubleshoots chronic or acute utility issues that cannot be solved effectively at a technician level
* Gathers user requirements for utilities in new facilities, oversee design, installation, commissioning, acceptance testing and startup
* Communicates project status, issues and changes regularly to key stakeholders

* Assists in problem solving other existing equipment and processes deficiencies

* Serves as a technical resource within the organization using technical expertise and experience
* Works on other projects as assigned by the VP of Engineering and Maintenance

Education and Experience
* BS in industrial, mechanical, civil, electrical or other applicable engineering fields, or a related discipline with an engineer-in-training Certificate
* 5 + years' experience in engineering, manufacturing or similar environment (Food and Beverage experience preferred)
* Experience managing or designing electrical and refrigeration systems including PSM compliant ammonia systems

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* Knowledge of engineering principals around refrigeration & electrical equipment as well as working code and regulatory knowledge of same
* Detail oriented, highly motivated, proactive and can work with minimal direct supervision

* Computer literate in a Microsoft environment.Familiar with ERP systems for maintenance management such as SAP or MP2. Controls, PLC & SCADA system knowledge a bonus

Certificates and Licenses
* Acceptable driving history with valid Driver's License
* RETA Certification or equivalent
* Electrical certification or demonstrated experience/qualification

* General engineering office work and site direct work
* Periodic exposure to noisy and dusty construction conditions
* Majority of work is generally sedentary. 10% to 25% standing and walking is required
* May be required to travel between facilities
