Caliza Winery

Paso Robles, CA

Apply

Job Description:

About Caliza Winery
Caliza Winery is a family-owned winery in Paso Robles dedicated to crafting world-class Rhône-inspired wines that express the unique character of the region. Founded by Carl and Pam Bowker, Caliza was born from a passion for farming, a deep appreciation for Old World winemaking, and a commitment to producing exceptional wines with authenticity and purpose. Named after the Spanish word for "limestone," Caliza reflects the distinctive soils that help shape our wines. Guided by organic and sustainable farming practices, meticulous attention to detail, and a hands-on approach from vineyard to bottle, Caliza has earned a reputation for producing consistently acclaimed wines, with many vintages receiving 94–98-point ratings from leading wine critics.

About the Role
We're looking for a Tasting Room and Hospitality Manager who leads with energy, warmth, and genuine hospitality instincts. This person will set the tone for every guest interaction, build a team that reflects our brand at its best, and turn visitors into loyal wine club members. If you're a natural people-leader who's equally comfortable coaching staff, dreaming up a new event, and pouring a flight with flair, we want to hear from you. Beyond the tasting room, you'll carry that same energy out into the world as a face of Caliza and End of the Day Wines, building relationships and telling our story to guests, partners, and trade audiences alike.

What You'll Do

Lead the Team
Bring a charismatic, upbeat presence to the tasting room floor and set the leadership standard for the rest of the staff to follow. Recruit, coach, and grow a team that reflects the values and hospitality of Caliza and End of the Day Wines. Oversee reservations through Tock, including large group and special experience requests at both tasting room locations. Assign daily tasks and stay hands-on wherever coverage is needed.

Shape the Culture
Cultivate a workplace that's informed, professional, positive, and genuinely enjoyable to be part of. Establish the policies and everyday tone that define our brand experience, creating the kind of atmosphere that keeps guests coming back and staff excited to stay.

Drive Marketing & Visibility
Design and refresh order forms, hospitality materials, websites, social media posts, and other marketing content that draws guests to the Caliza and End of the Day tasting rooms. Plan and run marketing campaigns and promotions across email, text messaging, and social media. Bring new ideas to the table that keep our presence current and compelling.

Set the Standard for Guest Experience
Ensure a consistent guest experience by standardizing how the team greets guests, presents our wines, winery history, and wine club, and communicates the brand's values. Ensure tasting rooms remain clean and presentable, and staff review guest profiles and special requests before each visit to deliver an exceptional guest experience.

Plan & Execute Events
Partner with the Wine Club Coordinator to staff and run all tasting room events, including dinners, Burger Sundays at Caliza, and special or private tastings, including library and reserve pours. Build event budgets and pitch new concepts throughout the year to keep things fresh.

Serve as Brand Ambassador
Represent Caliza and End of the Day Wines on the road as well as on-site, hosting wine dinners and pouring at trade tastings, joining distributor presentations, and visiting key accounts to build relationships and open doors for the brand.

Manage People Operations
Manage tasting room and hospitality staff schedules, breaks, and time-off requests, and ensure work hours are reviewed for payroll. Oversee hiring, onboarding, and training, and lead regular performance reviews to support each team member's growth.

Manage Inventory and Sales Performance
Monitor tasting room inventory and depletion rates and coordinate wine transfers between locations as needed. Use sales and inventory data to guide adjustments to the tasting flight lineup or sales techniques. Support annual planning for new releases including discussions and tastings.

Provide Insights & Reporting
Track day-to-day visitation trends, wine club conversion rates, and overall sales. Observe differences in visitation and spending between non-members and members and use those patterns to inform decisions. Track revenue performance consistently and find opportunities to grow.

Provide Wine Club and Fulfillment Support
Aid in order fulfillment for on-site, wine club, and online sales, individually or through scheduling, and be available as another contact for our wine club members or general inquiries in order to provide timely support.

Champion Wine Education
Develop deep knowledge of the winery's history, winemaking philosophy, and both library and current releases, then pass that knowledge on. You'll be a go-to resource for training staff and educating guests alike.
