This hybrid role combines reservation coordination, guest communication, wine education, and hospitality to deliver memorable experiences that reflect the legacy and standards of Schramsberg and Davies Vineyards.
The ideal candidate is personable, professional, organized, and enthusiastic about wine and hospitality. They should be comfortable engaging with both individual guests and groups while providing exceptional service in a fast-paced environment.
This position includes both Reservationist and Wine Educator responsibilities. Wine Educator shifts and hours may vary based on guest demand, reservations, seasonality, staffing levels, and business needs and are not guaranteed.
THE HYBRID RESERVATIONIST RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain the Visitor Center reservation system and calendar
• Book, modify, confirm, and manage reservations via phone, email, reservation platforms, and other communication channels
• Provide accurate information regarding winery experiences, wine club memberships, policies, and local recommendations
• Assist guests with reservation changes, cancellations, special requests, and accommodations
• Process reservation and retail transactions, including cash and credit card payments
• Maintain accurate reservation records and guest information within company systems
• Answer guest inquiries promptly and professionally while delivering exceptional customer service
• Assist guests with information regarding local attractions, wineries, restaurants, hotels, transportation, and Napa Valley tourism offerings
• Support consistency in guest communications and reservation procedures throughout Visitor Center operations
THE WINE EDUCATOR RESPONSIBILITIES
• Guest Experience & Hospitality
• Deliver outstanding, informative, and memorable tasting and tour experiences
• Confidently share the history of Schramsberg Vineyards and the Davies Family
• Provide exceptional hospitality to all guests, including prospective and existing wine club members
• Tailor experiences to guest interests while maintaining brand standards
SALES & WINE CLUB ENGAGEMENT
• Drive wine sales through authentic education, storytelling, and service
• Actively promote and enroll guests in the wine club
• Meet or exceed individual and team sales and club sign-up goals
OPERATIONS & DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Perform opening and closing duties in the Visitor Center
• Restock wine and merchandise; maintain inventory accuracy
• Support the cleanliness and organization of all guest areas, including tasting room, kitchen, and retail spaces
• Participate in on-site and off-site winery events as needed
• Complete additional projects or duties as assigned by management
QUALIFICATIONS
• 1–3+ years of experience in hospitality, customer service, reservations, retail, restaurant, winery, hotel, luxury service, or a related field preferred
• Prior experience conducting tastings, tours, hospitality experiences, or reservation coordination preferred
• Strong sales aptitude with the ability to drive wine sales and wine club memberships
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Professional, welcoming, and guest-focused demeanor
• Ability to work independently, adapt in a fast-paced environment, and remain professional under pressure
• Basic computer proficiency required; experience with CellarPass, AMS, Microsoft Office, POS systems, and reservation platforms preferred
• Professional appearance and conduct consistent with luxury hospitality standards
WINE KNOWLEDGE
• Knowledge and passion for wine, winemaking, and global wine regions
• Ability to taste, evaluate, and describe wine, including key components and food pairing recommendations
• Familiarity with Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Champagne varietals
• Understanding of Napa Valley, North Coast AVAs, and local wine tourism offerings (wineries, hotels, restaurants, tour providers, etc.)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Valid California driver’s license and insurable driving record
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. regularly
• Ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the facilities
• Ability to stoop, bend, reach, climb, kneel, and walk as needed
• Ability to taste and evaluate wine (required for job performance)
• Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings for events
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accident prevention is of primary importance in all phases of job responsibilities
• Follow all company policies and procedures, including job safety, safety rules, and regulations
• Assist management in providing safe and healthy working conditions at all times
• Immediately report all unsafe conditions, work-related accidents, and illnesses to the Safety Manager and supervisor
PAY TRANSPARENCY DISCLOSURE
The pay scale for this position is $21.00–$24.50 per hour. Actual compensation will depend on skills, experience, qualifications, education, and market conditions. Schramsberg Vineyards reserves the right to modify this range as needed to meet business requirements.
