Wine & Cheese Maven (heavy focus on local)

Palace Market is looking for a Wine & Cheese Maven to join our small, passionate crew. We specialize in thoughtfully curated local and regional cheeses, domestic wines, and craft spirits, alongside a selection of unique groceries. If you care deeply about where food and drink come from, and love sharing that story with others, you’ll fit right in.

This is a hands-on, highly interactive role for someone who wants to build expertise, connect with others, and help shape an exceptional, community-driven retail experience.

What You’ll Do
- Deliver warm, unpretentious hospitality to every customer and teammate
- Guide customers toward wines, cheeses, and spirits that match their tastes, occasions, and curiosities
- Share knowledge and enthusiasm for local producers and regional specialties
- Cut, wrap, label, and stock products across departments
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting workspace
- Receive deliveries and rotate stock with care
- Follow food safety and sanitation standards with precision

What You Bring
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and genuine love of food & beverage
- A working knowledge of domestic wines, with interest in small producers and regional expression
- Familiarity with cheese and specialty grocery, or deep curiosity and a drive to learn quickly
- Comfort in fast-paced, physically active work (on your feet for duration of shift, ability to lift 50lbs+)
- Clear and kind communication
- 21+ and have a healthy relationship with alcohol

This role requires significant training and hands-on learning. We’re looking for someone ready to make a long-term commitment and grow with us.

Schedule
Year-round, stable hours with generally sociable shifts
5 days/week, approximately 32-40 hours
Set schedule after initial training period
Weekend and holiday availability required (closed Thanksgiving & Christmas)
