Seasonal Harvest Intern for CINDER WINERY

Cinder Winery is seeking members for our cellar team to help us with the smooth and efficient running of our 12,000 cases winery.

Join us for an exciting opportunity to make world-class wine in the beautiful, small city of Boise. Cinder and Laissez Faire are our brands, with all winemaking happening in our urban winery, 10 minutes from downtown Boise. We make 12,000 cases per year from local, Snake River Valley vineyards about 1 hour away. We also make a varying amount of wine for custom crush clients. We are innovative and curious craftsmen who strive for excellence in a work environment that is fun and supportive but results driven. Our cellar operates on 6S manufacturing methodology and our company on Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS).

POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position, under the general direction of the winemaker and cellar technicians, will contribute to the safe and efficient making of wine through a myriad of different tasks. Position requires the ability to follow directions safely, accurately, and in a timely manner. Average work schedule of 6-10 hours a day, up to 5-6 days a week.

ESSENTIAL CHARACTERISTICS
Must have extremely high standards for cleanliness, professionalism, attention to detail and work ethic. Must be engaged and curious about wine. Must be a team player; able to coordinate efforts with others on the winemaking team. Must be able to follow instructions exactly and to read work orders and record work accurately.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include but are not limited to the following:

Following and observing all safe cellar practices
Following written and verbal instructions exactly
Filling out paperwork exactly for record keeping and compliance
Arriving to work, meetings, and other work related functions on time and prepared.
Meeting agreed-upon goals and objectives effectively and in a timely manner.
Providing timely and effective communication to management about any performance or operational issues.
Collecting samples of wine or grapes.
Performing analysis of juice and fermentation like brix and temperatures.
Cleaning, sanitizing, and sterilizing of all winery equipment and facilities.
Operating the forklift
Racking and pumping of juice and wine
Making chemical and nutrient additions to juice and wine
Barrel Work including filling, topping, repair, and gassing
Operating crush pad equipment
Conducting occasional maintenance on winery grounds.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor



BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE
Must have the ability to communicate effectively in English, with good skills in reading, writing, and basic math. Must be able to communicate professionally including group problem solving, idea generating, and effective inter-personal skills. Must be able to communicate through technology like email and text. Must be able to work safely around equipment, electrical outlets, and chemicals. Individuals selected for this position must be reliable, detail-oriented, and have a good work ethic. Must be able to work varying shifts, weekends and overtime as needed particularly during the harvest season. Must provide proof of ability to work in the United States.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to climb ladders safely. Required to stand and move around for up to 10 hours per day. Routinely required to reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and be able to lift and move up to 50lbs of weight. Must be able to manipulate equipment with fingers and hands. Must be able to see near, see far and have depth perception.
