The Kenwood Hospitality & Retail team is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Hospitality & Retail Manager to oversee the daily operations of the tasting room and retail space. This leadership role is responsible for driving sales performance, delivering exceptional guest and VIP experiences, and leading a high-performing team. Reporting to the Director of Hospitality, the ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on, with a passion for hospitality, team development, and creating memorable winery experiences. This position requires a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Key Responsibilities
Tasting Room & Retail Operations
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the tasting room, ensuring a seamless, high-quality guest experience
• Drive revenue through consumer acquisition, wine club conversions, retention, and retail sales
• Lead and support staff in delivering engaging, on-brand guest and VIP experiences
• Manage POS operations, daily opening/closing procedures, and ensure accurate cash handling
• Maintain a polished and welcoming tasting room environment, including merchandising and staff presentation
• Monitor and communicate daily sales goals; analyze performance and report on key metrics and KPIs
• Oversee inventory management, ordering, and invoice processing
• Ensure compliance with company policies, health regulations, and use-permit requirements
• Respond to guest feedback, inquiries, and concerns in a professional and timely manner
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Wine Club & Sales Growth
• Support and enhance Wine Club operations, focusing on member experience and retention
• Train and motivate team to effectively communicate Wine Club benefits and drive sign-ups
• Develop and implement sales and club incentive programs
Team Leadership & Development
• Responsible for staff hiring, orientation, training, and performance evaluation
• Create and manage staff schedules and timekeeping
• Foster a positive, engaged team culture focused on performance and continuous improvement
• Communicate goals and results clearly, motivating the team to meet or exceed targets
• Provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities for team members
• Lead regular team meetings and trainings
Qualifications & Skills
• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team in a fast-paced environment
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills with a high level of accountability
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Passion for hospitality with a strong customer service mindset
• Highly organized with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
• Experience with budgeting, reporting, and retail operations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with POS systems (Commerce7 preferred)
• Familiarity with sales analytics tools (e.g., WinePulse)
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Availability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in management, communications, marketing, or related field
• Previous management experience required
• Experience in retail, hospitality, or winery operations strongly preferred
• RBS and Food Handler’s Certification required
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds repeatedly
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including uneven surfaces and stairs
• Repetitive hand and wrist motion, including opening wine bottles and pouring
