Shea Wine Cellars, located in Newberg OR, is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced hospitality professional to work with us throughout our high season.
Shea Vineyard, a family-owned and operated vineyard and winery in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, produces world class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Position Summary
We are seeking one candidate for an extended internship role with wide-ranging hospitality and cellar responsibilities (~70% hospitality, 30% cellar). This role is multifaceted and requires a high level of adaptability. This position will last approximately 7 months. The anticipated start date for the role is May 6, 2026 and will run throughout the end of November 2026.
This role is perfect for an experienced hospitality pro who is looking to explore, learn, and grow within all facets of the wine business.
Tasting Room (May-November, 3-4 days per week)
– Host 90 minute private client, guided tastings throughout our busy season
– Support daily tasting room operations, including but not limited to opening/closing procedures, appointment coordination, weekly tasting room upkeep
–Describe our wines, our winemaking techniques, our winery history graciously and accurately
– Field phone calls and answers incoming questions
–Effectively and accurately promote our wine club membership options
–Represent Shea Wine Cellars with a hospitable and person focused approach
–Accurately performs daily wine inventory and money handling procedures
–Wash and polish glassware for tasting room
–Assistance with special event preparation, execution, and breakdown
Harvest (August-November, 2-3 additional days per week)
–Vineyard sampling
–Bottling
–Running crush equipment and sorting Pinot Noir
–Daily cap management procedures (pump overs, punch downs)
–Barrel Work
–Routine juice and wine analysis (Brix, pH)
–Additions and inoculations
–Equipment sanitization/cleaning
–Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
–Adaptability is paramount to this role. Must be willing to work varying shifts, overtime, and weekends with a “do what's needed” attitude
–Wine service experience (Tasting room, restaurant, bottle shop) is required. Formal wine education certification (CMS, WSET) is preferred but not required.
–Experience using Commerce7 and/or Tock is preferred.
–Previous harvest experience (1-2 vintages) is preferred but not required.
–Must be at least 21-years-old
–Able to obtain an OLCC pouring license prior to start of employment. Digital copies must be sent to the Director of Hospitality upon hiring date.
–Ability to perform demanding physical work (indoor and outdoor) including but not limited to lifting 50 lbs. repeatedly, positioning heavy equipment, bending, climbing, pulling or squatting for long periods
–Authorization to work in the US
–Able to read, write, speak and understand English
–Able to accurately complete work instructions individually or in a team
–Attention to detail and a commitment to quality
–Reliable transportation and housing
–Must love dogs!
