General Responsibilities

Since 1983, Vehrs Distributing has been on a mission to create and deliver the finest premium wine and spirits portfolio in the Pacific Northwest. As we expand our offerings to include non-alcoholic beverages and reach more clients in the Western Washington region, we're looking for an experienced, results-driven Seattle District Manager. This role is not just about managing accounts; it's about being in the scene - immersed in the dynamic atmosphere of Seattle's hottest spots to truly understand and leverage trends. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on sales leader with a proven track record in adult beverage distribution or retail account management. You’ll coach our field team, execute chain programs, drive territory sales growth, and directly engage with clients when necessary. Reporting to the Vice President of Sales, this role requires frequent travel throughout the territory and a strong presence in the local marketplace.

Essential Functions

Team Leadership & Sales Management
•  Provide leadership, direction, and day-to-day management for district sales team to achieve company sales, margin and service objectives.
•  Develop and implement territory sales strategies in alignment with company goals.
•  Deliver ongoing coaching, conduct ride-along, and implement performance improvement plans as necessary.
•  Conduct semi-annual and annual employee performance reviews; set objectives and development plans.
•  Recruit, coach and develop new sales representatives and account managers as required.

Market Strategy & Supplier Growth
•  Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key accounts across both on-premise and off-premise channels.
•  Ensure strategic placement of products, including shelf space, displays, wine list features, and BTG (by-the-glass) offerings.
•  Identify new market opportunities and allocate resources to capitalize on growth potential.
•  Stay informed on account openings, closing, and competitive activity.

Portfolio Strategy & Supplier Engagement
•  Collaborate with portfolio managers to launch new brands and support existing ones.
•  Provide market feedback and trend analysis to guide programming and promotional strategies.
•  Coordinate supplier visits, including winemaker dinners, market surveys, and in-store events.

Skills & Qualifications
•  Five (5) + years of progressive sales experience in beverage/alcohol distribution, consumer packaged goods (CPG), or grocery; minimum two (2) years in a frontline sales leadership position or district manager role preferred.
•  Strong network of buyers and clients in the Western Washington market.
•  In-depth knowledge of the Western Washington competitive landscape.
•  Proven ability to identify emerging beverage trends and consumer shifts within Seattle’s high-influence accounts (independent wine bars, trendy cocktail bars, etc.).
•  Proven ability to lead and develop a geographically dispersed field sales team.
•  Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with vendors and internal teams.
•  Competent with mobile devices, email, and basic computer applications.
•  Ability to adhere to all safety protocols, including proper lifting techniques and warehouse safety standards of various retailers.
•  Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and proof of insurance.
•  Reliable personal transportation.
•  Ability to obtain a Washington Agent’s License.

Physical Requirements
•  Able to stand and walk for long periods across large-format stores.
•  Able to bend, kneel, reach, and climb ladders for shelf access.
•  Able to frequently lift up to 50 pounds (cases, displays, POS).
•  Able to work in various environments, including refrigerated coolers and outdoor loading docks.

Education Requirements
•  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Sales, Marketing or related field; equivalent sales/distribution experience considered.
•  Wine/spirits knowledge required.

Compensation

Total compensation range is $90,000-$100,000. In addition, this role is eligible for annual performance bonuses. This is an outside sales position. As such it is exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Washington Minimum Wage Act (WMWA). By applying, you acknowledge that your primary duty involves making sales and obtaining orders while customarily and regularly working away from the company’s place of business. This role includes a vehicle reimbursement of $500 per month as well as a cell phone reimbursement of $75 per month.

•  This position starts at 80 hours of paid vacation per year. Our tiered accrual schedule increases based on seniority, capping at 160 hours after six years of service.
