Located in the heart of the Edna Valley, EDNA is a new joint tasting room, comprised of four local and family owned wineries: Stephen Ross Wine Cellars, Dunites, Greengate Wines, and Evenfall. At EDNA, the Tasting Room Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing daily operations of a unique, joint tasting room representing four distinct wineries under one roof. This position serves as both a hospitality leader and a brand steward, ensuring that guests experience thoughtful, elevated service while learning the story, style, and craftsmanship behind each winery.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Tasting Room Manager works closely with the Marketing & Events Manager, Culinary Director, Restaurant/Market Manager, and the winemakers to create a cohesive and welcoming tasting experience that reflects the values of a family-owned luxury destination. This role requires a strong leader who is passionate about wine education, team development, and exceptional guest service.
Key Responsibilities:
Tasting Room Operations & Leadership
• Oversee all daily tasting room operations, ensuring smooth service, cleanliness, and adherence to brand standards.
• Manage scheduling, staffing levels, and floor leadership for the tasting room team.
• Serve as a visible, hands-on leader during service, supporting staff and engaging with guests as needed.
• Uphold service standards that balance refinement with warmth and approachability.
Team Management & Wine Education
• Recruit, train, and mentor tasting room staff to deliver consistent, high-quality service.
• Develop and lead ongoing training programs that educate staff across all four wineries, including:
- Winery histories and brand stories
- Wine styles, vineyards, and production methods
- Tasting techniques and guest engagement
• Ensure staff are confident representing multiple winery brands while maintaining clarity and accuracy.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching to support professional growth.
Guest Experience & Sales
• Create memorable tasting experiences that encourage repeat visits, wine club sign-ups, and brand loyalty.
• Guide staff in effective storytelling and sales techniques that feel natural and hospitality-driven.
• Monitor guest feedback and address concerns promptly and thoughtfully.
• Support private tastings, winemaker events, and special programming within the tasting room.
Collaboration & Cross-Department Coordination
• Work closely with the Marketing & Events Manager to support events, promotions, and special activations within the tasting room.
• Collaborate with the Culinary Director and Restaurant GM to align food offerings, pairings, and service flow with tasting experiences.
• Work closely with the four wineries to stay current on releases, production updates, and educational priorities.
• Communicate regularly with the General Manager regarding operational needs, performance, and opportunities.
Inventory, Compliance & Administration:
• Oversee wine inventory, point-of-sale systems, and cash handling procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all alcohol service laws, health and safety standards, and company policies.
• Maintain accurate reporting related to sales, labor, and inventory.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting as related to tasting room operations.
Qualifications:
• 3-5+ years of hospitality or tasting room management experience, preferably in a winery or luxury hospitality setting.
• Strong wine knowledge; additional wine education or certifications preferred.
• Proficiency on OrderPort preferred.
• Proven experience training and managing teams in a multi-brand or complex environment.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to identify and optimize revenue opportunities
• Warm, professional leadership style with a passion for education and guest experience.
• Comfortable working weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.
Compensation & Benefits:
• Salary range of $65,000–$75,000 + tips, based on experience
