Retail Support Staff: PT Position +/- 25 Hrs/Wk

General Expectations
This role plays an important part in maintaining the overall organization, appearance, and day-to-day readiness of Meritage Wine Market. The primary focus is ensuring the store is clean, well-stocked, and welcoming, while supporting smooth operations on both the sales floor and behind the scenes. Daily responsibilities include in-store customer support, inventory organization (on-site and off-site), stocking shelves, processing wine orders, and assisting with shipping, receiving, and deliveries. This position requires strong attention to detail, clear communication, and an organized, proactive approach. Team members should be open to feedback, committed to continuous improvement, and take pride in the quality of their work.

Job Responsibilities
Store & Inventory Operations
Maintain store appearance, supplies, and related inventory needs
Stock, organize, and accurately tag wine, spirits, and accessories
Assist with inventory handling, stocking, and organization
Conduct inventory audits and monthly inventory tracking
Report inventory discrepancies to management
Shipping & Deliveries
Prepare and process daily and weekly shipments
Assist with local wine deliveries as needed
Customer Service & Sales
Provide friendly, knowledgeable customer service on the sales floor
Promote sales by assisting customers with wine suggestions and recommendations
Process customer transactions using the Point of Sale system
Answer phones and respond to customer emails in a timely, professional manner






Qualifications
Knowledge of wine products and the wine industry required
Prior retail and/or customer service experience required
College degree preferred
Must be at least 21 years of age
Valid California driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
Proof of insurance and access to a reliable vehicle
Strong attention to detail, communication, and problem-solving skills
Comfortable using computers and software including Word, Excel, Outlook, and POS systems
Ability to learn new processes, adapt quickly to change, and manage multiple tasks
Organized, proactive, and team-oriented work style




Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, bend, twist, and stoop regularly
Standing for long periods of time
Ability to lift 25–50 lbs
Comfortable using retail-type ladders
Ability to reach and lift overhead
Frequent grasping and handling of heavy objects
