Tasting Room Lead


Full-Time: We are seeking a tasting room lead who is a true hospitality professional looking for a career, not a job. This is not an entry-level position, so do not apply if you do not have at least two years of experience in retail customer hospitality and management. Candidates with extensive experience in winery tasting rooms or in restaurant fine dining and hotels with full-bar and food service will receive priority consideration. As we will be making a substantial investment in training, only the most qualified candidates will be considered. In addition to the competitive pay rate, there are substantial commission and bonus opportunities. Health benefits are also available after the required waiting period, along with vacation and paid holidays.


Essential Responsibilities:

Help to manage the daily operations of the wine tasting room, including opening and closing procedures, event execution, inventory management, and staff supervision.

Train, motivate, and mentor tasting room staff, ensuring they provide exceptional customer service, sales techniques, and wine club training, and possess in-depth knowledge of our wines and winemaking processes.

Create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for guests, ensuring their needs are met, and they have a memorable experience at the winery.

Conduct wine tastings, educate customers about different wines, and promote sales by effectively communicating the unique characteristics and qualities of our products.

Work with the Tasting Room Manager and Director of Consumer Sales to implement effective sales strategies, promotions, and events to increase tasting room traffic, wine club memberships, and overall sales.

Proactive and effective outreach and communication to wine club members and community members.

Maintain accurate records of daily sales, customer information, and inventory levels, utilizing a point-of-sale (POS) system and other tracking tools.

Help facilitate wine club sign-ups, shipments, and customer inquiries, ensuring high customer satisfaction and retention rates.

Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations related to wine sales, responsible alcohol service, and health and safety standards.

Maintain a clean and organized tasting room, including the display and arrangement of merchandise, wine bottles, and tasting areas.

Participate in wine events and community activities to promote the winery and expand its customer base.

Event execution

Inventory of tasting room supplies and suggested orders of supplies for tasting rooms to ensure flawless tasting room operation

Assist in setting and achieving annual goals for tasting rooms sales and club sign-ups by month.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Maintain tasting room and wine club wine inventory


Experience and Expectations:

Weekend availability – Saturdays and Sundays are a must.

Ability to foster a warm and welcoming environment for our guests and team members

Polished presentation and phone skills

A passion for wine, hospitality, and strong customer service skills

Be over 21 years of age

OLCC permit or the ability to acquire one

Food Handler’s permit or the ability to acquire one

Computer literate in Google Suite, familiar with reservations systems, and have the ability to navigate a Point of Sale system

Ability to lift 45lbs and stand for long periods of time

Reliable transportation
