Hospitality Host

Ponzi Vineyards

Sherwood, OR

Job Description:

Ponzi Hospitality Host

At Ponzi, hospitality isn’t a department. It’s the heartbeat of a pioneering Oregon winery that has welcomed guests for over five decades. We’re looking for a Ponzi Hospitality Host who leads with warmth, intuition, and the spirit of unreasonable hospitality.

As a Ponzi Hospitality Host, you are the face of a legacy brand and a steward of where we’ve been, where we are, and where we’re going. You spark genuine excitement for the Laurelwood District, guide guests through the story of a family that reshaped Oregon wine and create moments so thoughtful that they feel impossible to forget.

Your purpose: make every guest feel seen, valued, and delighted. In doing so, you will deepen their connection to Ponzi in a way that drives sales, grows club membership, builds lifelong loyalty, and brand advocacy.

You bring curiosity, confidence, and a love of people. You believe great hospitality has the power to change how someone feels and what they buy. You elevate simple moments, celebrate the details, and show up every day ready to make people's day.

What You’ll Do
•  Create unforgettable moments.
•  Represent a legacy brand with passion and confidence.
•  Bring the story of Ponzi to life: its pioneering past, future, and the distinctive beauty of the Laurelwood District.
•  Guide guests through tastings, delivering such strong hospitality that it inspires sales.
•  Share our wines with clarity, pride, and excitement, turning first-time visitors into lifelong fans.
•  Use soft-sell, relationship-first strategies to increase wine sales, club membership, and guest spend in a natural, human way.
•  Build long-term relationships that continue well past the tasting, inviting guests deeper into the Ponzi world.
•  Anticipate guest needs and always look for “the extra inch” that makes a moment unforgettable.
•  Be dedicated to learning about our wines, our estate, the Laurelwood District AVA, and high-touch hospitality practices.
•  Restock wine and merchandise from the stock room into the Tasting Room.
•  Occasional VIP off-site private tastings.
•  Uphold Ponzi’s grounded-luxury aesthetic through polished appearance, calm presence, and impeccable attention to detail.

What You Bring
•  A commitment to excellence.
•  Hospitality instincts.
•  Warm, intuitive people skills and the ability to build authentic connections.
•  An optimistic, team-oriented mindset and the resilience to remain calm, kind, and solutions-focused.
•  Strong attention to detail, with pride in doing things exceptionally well.
•  A desire to understand wine, vineyard practices, and Ponzi’s place in shaping the Willamette Valley.
•  Operational excellence.
•  Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality.
•  Accountability, integrity, and follow-through.

Success Looks Like
•  Guests leave glowing and come back again.
•  Be raved about in 5 star reviews.
•  Strong wine sales, club conversions, and high dollars-per-visitor driven by hospitality, not pressure.
•  Integration into a cohesive, energized hospitality team that loves working together.
•  A tasting experience that consistently reflects Ponzi’s pioneering spirit and grounded luxury.

Role Requirements
•  Demonstrate a passion for continuous improvement and a desire to grow as a hospitality professional.
•  1+ year of hospitality experience.
•  Comfort with technology (TOCK, Commerce7, MS Office).
•  Food Handler’s Certificate and OLCC Server Permit (can obtain on the job).
•  WSET a plus but not required.
•  Able to stand 8+ hours and lift/carry 50 lbs.
•  Availability on weekends, weekdays, holidays, and occasional evenings.
•  Must be 21+.

Compensation & Benefits
•  High-season average earnings of $29–35/hr (includes $17/hr base + gratuities, commissions, incentives).
•  50% off wine & merchandise.
•  Paid sick time.
