Job Description:

Position Summary

Chateau Buena Vista is seeking an enthusiastic and hospitality-driven Tasting Room Associate to provide an exceptional guest experience. This role includes hosting wine tastings, conducting tours, educating guests, supporting retail sales, participating in wine club activities, and assisting with events both on and off-site. This is a part-time role requiring weekend availability, hourly rate does not include tips and commission.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Hospitality
•  Greet all guests warmly and provide guided tastings with wine education.
•  Assist guests with recommendations for their Napa Valley visit.
•  Conduct consumer and VIP tours of various sizes.

Sales & Wine Club
•  Encourage and complete on-site retail sales of wine and gift items.
•  Promote Wine Club memberships and process sign-ups.
•  Engage with Wine Club members via in-person visits, phone, and online communication.
•  Provide club benefits to members visiting the winery.

Tasting Room Operations
•  Maintain attractive and effective displays of wine merchandise and gift items.
•  Restock displays, brochures, maps, and handout materials.
•  Wash and stock glasses, dust, restock inventory, and maintain cleanliness of all guest areas, including tasting room, restrooms, and lounge spaces.
•  Open and close the cash register accurately each day.

Events & Off-Site Support
•  Assist with special events as scheduled.
•  Represent Boisset Collection at off-site tasting events (occasional travel required).
•  Assist with packing and shipping wine, sales orders, and POS orders.

Team & Administrative Support
•  Support managers and staff with special projects as needed.
•  Attend regular staff meetings, trainings, tastings, and seminars.
•  Maintain accurate time and attendance in Paycor and follow meal/rest break requirements.

Additional Responsibilities
•  Follow all company safety policies and report unsafe conditions.
•  Participate in team initiatives and perform additional duties as needed.

Required Skills & Abilities
Language & Communication
•  Basic English required.
•  Ability to read and interpret documents (memos, manuals, policies).
•  Capable of writing routine reports and communicating effectively with guests and staff.
•  Comfortable presenting information to groups and engaging in one-on-one interactions.

Math
•  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using standard U.S. currency and measurement units.
•  Able to recognize and correct calculator or spreadsheet inaccuracies.

Reasoning & Adaptability
•  Strong common-sense problem-solving skills.
•  Ability to adapt to changes in routine and work under moderate supervision.

Computer Skills
•  Basic computer proficiency, including word processing and spreadsheets.

Education & Experience
•  High School diploma or GED OR 1-3 months related experience/training OR equivalent combination.
•  Valid driver's license, insurable driving record, and proof of auto insurance required.

Physical Requirements
•  Moderate physical activity, including standing, walking, climbing, reaching, and carrying.
•  Ability to lift/move up to 40 lbs.
•  Manual dexterity and clear near/far vision with ability to adjust focus.
•  Sufficient hearing for phone and group conversations.

Work Environment
•  Primarily indoor, well-lit, climate-controlled environment.
•  Occasional work in un-heated indoor spaces (e.g., wine cellar).
•  Short outdoor periods when conducting tours or moving between buildings.
•  Moderate noise levels common to busy hospitality spaces.

Schedule & Travel

•  Variable but mostly set schedule.
•  Weekends required, part-time, evenings, and seasonal overtime may be required.
•  Overnight travel not typically required
