Tasting Room Lead

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:
•  Providing guests with an outstanding and unique experience.
•  Educating guests about Kenwood ’s history and wines
•  Pouring and describing wines and winemaking techniques
•  Handling routine purchasing transactions, including operating cash registers, accounting for daily sales, and packing guests wine/merchandise purchases
•  Bar duties of opening wine, cleaning buffing wine glasses, restocking
•  Setting up and conducting general and private tours and tastings for trade, VIPs or club members
•  Assisting with hospitality special events, special wine tastings, and VIP luncheons/dinners
•  Opening: Setting up visitor’s centers as needed by Manager (menus, glasses, tasting notes, water, and all proper marketing materials)
•  Closing: Assist management in providing a secure environment at close of day, ensuring final security and alarming of the Visitors Center.
•  Actively participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
•  Stay current on recent wine reviews, industry issues
•  Learn about other wineries and their wines; use that information to recommend other wineries with great tasting experiences for our guests.
•  Provide the team with leadership in the event Manager is absent
•  Assist Hospitality Manager with creating a seasonal rotation of menus
•  In collaboration with Hospitality Manager oversee EOM inventory levels and reporting.

Skills / Qualifications / Experience:
Essential:

•  Must be at least 21 years of age
•  Responsible Beverage Server and Safe Food Handler certification
•  High school diploma or equivalent. College level education preferred.
•  Proven sales results in the wine, restaurant or hospitality industries
•  Knowledge of wine & wine production
•  Excellent verbal & interpersonal communication skills required
•  Organized and detail oriented
•  Ability to lift heavy boxes (40-50 lbs) on a repeated basis.
•  The hospitality/tasting room requires an experienced public contact person able to consistently maintain enthusiasm and project a positive company image.
•  Job requires the ability and willingness to work a flexible work schedule including evenings and weekends.

Desirable:

•  Willingness to operate a fork-lift, prior experience a plus

Pay Transparency Disclosure: The base pay scale offered for this position is $24.00-$27.00 per hour. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors, including but not limited to candidate qualifications, skills, experience, education, location, and alignment with market data. The Company reserves the right to modify the range in the future.
