Are you ready to step into a leadership role that combines culinary artistry, event execution, and mentorship in one of the most dynamic food-and-wine settings in California?
Silver Oak Cellars is seeking a Sous Chef to join our renowned culinary team. As a key leader in Kitchen Management, you’ll partner closely with our Executive Chef to craft remarkable hospitality experiences, oversee daily production, and guide a passionate team. From multi-course wine dinners to large-scale hospitality events, your expertise will help shape the flavors and experiences that define our brand.
This is an extraordinary opportunity to work alongside a James Beard Award–winning chef and industry leader as you help create the next must-visit culinary destination in wine country. Create seasonal, locally inspired menus showcasing ingredients from small farms, while learning to cultivate and sustain the estate culinary garden of herbs and vegetables that brings the farm-to-table vision to life.
What you’ll do:
As Sous Chef, you’ll be at the heart of our culinary program, leading with creativity, precision, and passion. You’ll mentor and inspire our kitchen team, ensuring every dish reflects the highest standards of quality and artistry. From intimate wine-paired dinners to large-scale hospitality events, you’ll bring experiences to life for our guests while collaborating across departments to deliver seamless, remarkable moments.
Behind the scenes, you’ll manage operations with excellence—ordering and vendor partnerships—while championing the use of seasonal, estate-grown ingredients from our culinary gardens. You’ll also play a key role in menu development, staff hiring and training, and fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability. And above all, you’ll uphold the highest standards of kitchen safety, cleanliness, and organization to ensure an environment where both the team and cuisine thrive.
What we’re looking for:
We’re seeking a driven and dedicated culinary professional who’s hungry to learn, lead, and grow. You should bring a solid foundation of commercial kitchen experience—ideally with time in fine dining—and a passion for mastering every station, from prep to pastry. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, stay organized under pressure, and have the confidence to engage with guests about food and wine.
This role is perfect for someone who is hardworking, adaptable, and ready to take on leadership responsibilities, coaching and inspiring a team while staying hands-on in the kitchen. Flexibility is key: evenings, weekends, and travel between winery locations are part of the job. Above all, we’re looking for someone with the drive, humility, and curiosity to keep learning while helping us shape the future of our culinary program.
Why join us?
Across the wineries of Silver Oak Cellars, we believe food and wine create connections that last a lifetime. As Sous Chef, you’ll play a vital role in shaping those moments, working with estate-grown ingredients, collaborating with a talented team, and bringing your craft to life for guests who love and appreciate world-class culinary experiences.
You’ll also have the unique opportunity to help build a new culinary destination in wine country—a place where innovation, sustainability, and hospitality come together.
