Reporting to the Vice President of Domestic Sales and Guest Relations, the Director of Hospitality serves as a strategic leader and brand ambassador, ensuring that every guest experience embodies the brand, style, and values of Opus One. This pivotal role oversees all dimensions of hospitality that include tasting experiences, estate events, and guest relations, curating memorable moments that reflect the spirit and uncompromising hospitality of our Founders. Through thoughtful leadership and mentorship, the Director cultivates a high-performing and diverse hospitality team dedicated to delivering excellence. They will design and implement impactful strategies that align hospitality programs with overarching business objectives, while also managing departmental financials with transparency and strategic foresight. This position requires regular availability on weekends, with flexible scheduling during holidays.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other exempt-level duties may be assigned.

•  Lead the recruitment, training, and development of employees within the Hospitality department including, but not limited to Guest Relations, Culinary and Events to deliver the highest possible level of guest satisfaction.
•  Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with direct reports and team members and inspire team member commitment to providing exceptional service.
•  Utilize reporting systems to analyze any service issues and identify trends.
•  Facilitate the development of creative solutions and ensure implementation to continually improve guest satisfaction.
•  In collaboration with the DTC team, conceive, develop and implement retail sales and visitor programs.
•  Develop and implement programs that promote a positive work environment for all employees while ensuring that all employment-related processes and documentation comply with local, state and federal laws and regulations.
•  Provide leadership across events and culinary channels, ensuring strategic alignment, operational excellence, and brand-forward execution.
•  Analyze event performance and culinary program ROI to inform future investment, staffing, and guest experience enhancements.

Leadership & Management
•  Develop and coach the Guest Relations team to deliver the highest level of patron satisfaction, ensuring that all customer touchpoints are consistent with a leading global luxury brand.
•  Establishes and maintains open, and collaborative relationships with direct reports and fellow team members that inspires team commitment to providing exceptional service, alignment with other departments, and creating efficiencies in process and procedures.
•  In collaboration with the Guest Experience Manager, support the training of the Guest Relations team on membership (Curia), compliance, direct marketing activities and customer service issues.
•  Monitors the quality and consistency of data captured from both direct sales and visitation at the winery.
•  Writes and delivers quarterly and annual performance reviews of direct reports. Plans and executes consistent touch-base meetings. Creates individual development and accountability plans.
•  Champion a culture of empathetic leadership, balancing care and accountability through clear expectations, timely feedback, and a willingness to engage in courageous conversations that foster growth and performance.

Financial and Strategic Planning
•  In collaboration with the Vice President of Domestic Sales and Guest Relations and Director of Finance, the Director of Hospitality is responsible for assembling the annual and long-range plans and overall P&L for Guest Relations, Events, and culinary teams, including annual volume and revenue forecasts, and departmental operating expenses and budgets.
•  Responsible for overall P&L for the Guest Relations Department including preparation of the annual department budget and approval of departmental operating expenses and achieving selling contribution as determined in the annual plan.
•  Establishes and tracks business metrics that occur and implement proactive ways to navigate and improve upon the trends.
•  Tracks performance to plan (Monthly Pulse Report), prepares monthly reports for the executive management team and participates in management meetings, representing Guest Relations.

•  Maintain, update, and expand knowledge of viticulture, enology, and the Winery by participating in educational trainings offered by Opus One and outside sources.
•  Speak knowledgeably about Opus One vintages, representatives, distributors, and retailers to better assist customers in the selection of wine or wine-related items.
•  Flexibility of schedule including weekends and evenings as appropriate


QUALIFICATIONS

•  Minimum of 10 years’ experience in hospitality leadership, ideally within a winery, luxury hotel, fine dining environment
•  College degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management
•  Proven leadership skills with ability to inspire and motivate teamwork
•  Strong retail sales/public relations skills and experience
•  Proven success in P&L management, budgeting, and financial forecasting

PREFRRED QUALIFICATIONS

•  MBA or marketing discipline preferred
•  Foreign language skills (French, Japanese, German, or Italian)
•  Knowledge of viticulture, winemaking, wine marketing.

COMPENSATION: Base Compensation Range: $128,000-$144,000-$164,000 USD annually*
