Job Description:

Pech Merle Winery is seeking an outgoing, professional, self-motivated associate to join our tasting room team! This is a part time position 2-3 days per week, weekends & events are required.

The primary focus of the Tasting Room Associate (TRA) is to provide a unique and memorable experience while building a relationship with each and every tasting room guest. TRA’s must be articulate, enthusiastic, and customer service oriented, with the ability to educate customers about our exceptional wines with a strong focus on sales. Teamwork, a sense of humor, a strong work ethic and a true enjoyment of both wine and people are vital for the success of our artisanal enterprise. Our employees are ambassadors of the Pech Merle brand and are expected to embody the customer service ideals of Pech Merle Winery at all times.

Primary Responsibilities:
•  Perform various hospitality duties including hosting tasting room guests, wine club members, and conducting private tasting experiences
•  Work and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, while delivering superior customer service
•  Educate guests with accurate information about the wines, winemaking techniques, brand and winery history
•  Successfully introduce and promote wine club benefits and memberships
•  Participate and assist with special events held in the tasting room on a monthly basis
•  Successfully convert tasters into wine buyers and club members based on monthly goals
•  Perform daily tasting room floor operations including opening/closing procedures
•  Manage the cleanliness and overall appearance of the tasting room
•  Represent Pech Merle at outside events & functions as needed
•  Maintain accurate count of tasting room samples, taster count, and assist with monthly wine inventory
•  Handle routine sales transactions and shipping orders
•  Assist with displays, stock retail items, wines & merchandise
•  Wash and buff stemware on a daily basis
•  Answer all customer questions promptly & accurately as well as reply to customer emails & phone messages as needed
•  Perform other duties as assigned by tasting room manager

Experience, Qualifications & Competencies:
•  Winery, sales or hospitality experience a plus although not required
•  Ability to organize and prioritize assigned duties
•  Posses an appreciation for wine and a passion for the wine country
•  Ability to manage change and adapt quickly
•  Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays as it relates to the needs of the tasting room
•  Excellent interpersonal communication, customer service and organizational skills, especially attention to detail
•  Utilizes excellent sales skills to increase wine sales and inform guests about shipping options, up-selling, sales promotions and/or special offers
•  Ability to connect with a wide range of people on a variety of topics beyond wine
•  Computer Literate - experience with POS systems or eWinery/VinSuite will be considered a plus

Physical Requirements:
•  Must be able to lift & carry 50lbs regularly as well as stand for extended periods of time
•  Candidate must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid CA Driver's License
•  Ability to effectively stock wine, set-up and breakdown event equipment, etc. as well as utilize hand truck and assist in moving heavy objects
