As a Wine Educator, you will be at the forefront of creating exceptional wine experiences for our guests. Your primary focus will be to showcase our premium wines and exclusive Wine Club offerings while delivering outstanding hospitality and engaging storytelling. By demonstrating professionalism, warmth, and a commitment to excellence, you will foster meaningful connections with both Guests and Members, enhancing their engagement with our brand. This role upholds the highest standards of service and hospitality at all times.
The ideal candidate excels in a dynamic, fast-paced, guest-focused, and team-oriented environment. They understand that prioritizing people—team members, guests, members, and the community—is key to success. A strong interest in wine, hospitality, and guest service is essential. Candidates must also be available to work weekends, holidays, and special events. This position offers an hourly base pay plus earned gratuities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Greets all visitors to the Tasting Room, facilitates wine-tasting experiences, discussing wine and brand stories. Leads Vineyard Tours.
Goes the extra mile consistently, to ensure that each Guest has an experience that gives a sense of belonging- and a connection to the people, place, and product.
Is knowledgeable and generous in talking with guests about wine, accurately describing wines, winemaking techniques, winery history, and appellations.
Handles routine purchasing transactions, including operating POS and cash register, accounting for daily sales, and processing returns and discounts.
Takes the initiative for self-development in the areas of our wines, our brand, and general hospitality, and for acquiring effective sales techniques and acumen.
Participates in educational opportunities to ensure wine, service, sustainability, and industry knowledge are current and evolving.
Acts as a brand and sustainability ambassador, demonstrating positive characteristics of exceptional guest service.
Serves as a positive change agent with an innovation mindset, championing new initiatives and bringing forth fresh ideas to drive growth and elevation through the lens of hospitality.
Works collaboratively, is solution-oriented, and demonstrates positive and open communication.
Ability to multi-task in a busy environment.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Exceptional Guest service skills
Outgoing, engaging, and friendly personality
2+ years prior related winery or hospitality experience preferred
Possesses or can develop a solid knowledge of wines and winemaking processes
Proven ability to communicate with diverse client groups effectively and appropriately
Is flexible, can manage constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
Certification in California Food Handlers Training required or within 30 days of employment
Certification in California RBS Training required or within 30 days of employment
Certification in California Alcohol Server Training required or within 30 days of employment
Ability to work weekends and some nights
Ability to operate a computer POS system. Experience with Tock and WineDirect a plus
Must be at least 21 years of age

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a tasting room/kitchen/hospitality environment.
Work is mainly performed both indoors and outdoors.
Noise levels are usually moderate but may be moderate to high at times.
A percentage of work time may be spent in a wine warehouse and cellar where temperatures are cool and noise level is usually moderate.
Floors may be wet and slippery, proper footwear is provided and required.
