San FRancisco Wine School is seeking a flexible, resourceful, and independent Controller to help a busy CFO/COO manage accounting and finance with the support of a part time AP and payroll assistant for this small but growing business. Estimated hours are 5-10 per week.
Duties include:
Supervise Jr Accountant including
• Acceptance of daily banking activity
• Review of Biweekly Payroll Entries
• Review of Entry of Accounts Payable
Weekly Accounts Receivable / Revenue Entry
• Invoicing clients as requested from time to time by CFO
• Collection review
• Review and record orders as either revenue or deferred revenue
• Review weekly banking activity and match or create transactions as necessary including customer invoices and bills paid electronically
Monthly Close Process
• Review Cash & Credit Card Account Reconciliation
• Review Payroll Entries
• Record GL other Transactions as necessary
• Balance Sheet Account Review & Select Reconciliation
• Accounts Payable Review
• Accounts Receivable Review
• Revenue Recognition Review
• P&L Review / Analysis for reasonableness
Manage Quarterly Close Process
• Full Balance Sheet Reconciliation (including WSET Revenue & Recon, Gift Certificate Liability)
• Search for Unrecorded Liabilities
• P&L Review against PY & PQ
File and Pay Quarterly Sales Taxes
Prepare SFWS reports for Annual Tax Return. Tax accountant will provide a list of needs and prepare return.
Prepare Annual 1099s
We are seeking a hard-working, self-starting, highly organized, technically savvy, solution minded individual who has lots of positive energy and can take work from assignment to completion. This person must be able to work independently and effectively as a team member and want to make a difference in the future of the wine education industry. BS in Accounting and CPA achievement is preferred (need not be active) along with small business and/or start-up experience. Must have working knowledge of Quickbooks and be well versed in monthly close and financial reporting process.
