As Maintenance Mechanic at Bonterra Organic Estates, you will work under limited supervision performing skilled, maintenance tasks on winery and facilities equipment and machinery including but not limited to presses, crusher/de-stemmers, sorting table, barrel washers, boilers, air compressors, pumps, filters, refrigeration equipment, power systems, generators, electrical wiring, wastewater and winery plumbing, wastewater ponds, HVAC, residential housing, appliances, construction, landscaping and irrigation systems. This is a great opportunity for a multi-skilled individual who likes a variety of work. While most of your focus will support winery and facility maintenance, there will be times when you will provide repair and maintenance on buildings and grounds which includes office buildings, private event spaces and nearly 20 residential dwellings for our vineyard employees. Examples include working on fencing or cabinets; installing a new bathroom fixture, patching drywall or painting trim.

Winery Maintenance 80%

•  Install, troubleshoot and repair general industrial and winery specific equipment which includes but is not limited to refrigeration equipment, chillers, compressors, heat exchangers, wastewater aerators, pumps, boilers, air compressors, clarifiers, presses, filters, hoists, electrical panels, etc.
•  Perform mechanical tasks such as preventative maintenance, lubrication, filter replacing, and repairs to general industrial equipment including but not limited to all above facility and winery equipment.
•  Prioritize and complete all assigned work orders and track them in a PC-based CMMS. Document all repairs and modifications made.
•  Disassemble and reassemble equipment; examine and test mechanisms on large and small pieces of machinery, adjust calibration to ensure equipment conforms to specifications and standards.
•  Follow direction of department supervision in carrying out maintenance in an effective, safe and timely manner adhering to established standards, including OSHA requirements and using all required Personal Protective Equipment.
•  Maintain shop machines, tools and parts inventories in a clean and organized manner.
•  Participate in safety meetings and inspections, incident investigations and other required trainings.
•  Work with contractors and outside services providers, including compliance with insurance, safety and contractor guidelines.

Facilities & Properties Maintenance 10%

•  May perform skilled and unskilled level repairs and modifications on buildings and grounds including:
o Structural repairs such as carpentry, deck repairs, flooring, drywall, etc.
o Perform repairs on plumbing & septic systems.
o Interior and exterior electrical work including 120, 208, 480 VAC
o Interior and exterior painting including drywall & siding.
o Organize and maintain maintenance shop with tools and materials for daily tasks.

Other Duties 10%

•  Maintain the organization of the workplace environment (shop and job sites), upholding organization, cleanliness and safety standards. Assist with H K & S audits, corrective findings and ongoing compliance.
•  Gathering, organizing and recycling accumulated universal waste (light bulbs, batteries, etc.).

Must Requirements
•  2-5 years experience in facility and winery maintenance or related industry
•  High school diploma or equivalent
•  Reading and writing in English and some basic math abilities
•  Demonstrated ability to work safely and maintain a safe work environment for self and team.
•  Entry level to intermediate mechanical abilities including mechanical preventive maintenance (PM), repairs, maintenance, troubleshooting
•  Valid Driver’s License (Class C) – required
•  As needed, travel to Bonterra Organic Estates’ buildings and sites in the Hopland and Ukiah area to perform duties
•  Will require work in all weather conditions, indoor and outdoor (rain gear and suitable PPE provided)
•  Must be able to follow directions
•  Basic computer skills including Microsoft 365 (Office), email, calendars, CMMS
•  Must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervision
•  This is a 5-day/8-hour per day position, Mon – Fri, 7:00am – 3:30pm. Schedule may fluctuate during harvest season and will require overtime as needed. During busy periods, effort will be made to provide employees with adequate advance notice should overtime become necessary. All overtime work must have the prior authorization of the employee’s supervisor before it is performed. Position may require call-ins for emergencies
•  Pre-employment physical required

Physical Requirements - Ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis; requires ability to constantly walk/stand; frequently sit, climb, crawl, squat, kneel and bend; reach outward & upward; requires hand and finger dexterity for keyboarding and working at computer. Requires visual acuity and the ability to distinguish colors. Requires PPE such as safety toe footwear, hearing protection, safety glasses.

Compensation - $28 to $34 per/hr
