Tasting Room Manager

Job Description:

Tasting Room/DTC Manager Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

1. Oversee the day-to-day operations of our Tasting Room which includes conducting guest tastings, overseeing visitor relations, monitoring staff performance, overseeing wine club and internet sales (explained below)
2. Hire, train, schedule and supervise Tasting Room Staff. Create monthly tasting room schedule and assume responsibility of direct point of contact for changes in the schedule (i.e. call outs, shift swaps, etc.) Advertise for tasting room staff positions, conduct interviews and help hire staff based on the needs of the Tasting Room. Coordinate training/education per legal requirements for new and existing staff (i.e. RBS Training) and keep accurate records on file for all Tasting Room staff. Host quarterly meetings to educate staff on upcoming wine releases, etc.
3. Inventory wine, retail merchandise and Tasting Room supplies. Assess needs for complimentary items in Tasting Room (i.e. charcuterie board inventory, non-alcoholic beverage options, etc.). Inventory stock every weekend, review sales weekend history and order complimentary stock items as needed.
5. Coordinate hospitality events, such as consumer tastings, VIP tastings, and wine club events. Invest in developing wine club program/benefits (i.e. quarterly pick-up parties featuring catered food and live music). In collaboration with the General Manager/Winemaker, develop quarterly wine tasting menu based on current stock availability and new releases. Brainstorm and execute seasonally specific events to increase Tasting Room traffic (i.e. winter holidays, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, etc.) Implement Tasting Room reservation platform (i.e. Tock, etc.)
6. Handle routine purchasing transactions, including operating cash registers, and accounting for daily sales. Ensure cash accounting is correct and complete at the end of the business day. Personally perform counting of cash drawers/deposits, or delegate task to responsible person on-site for that shift. Maintain accurate record keeping of cash drawer counts, receipts, etc.
7. Generate and maintain performance metrics to monitor direct sales results. Assess Tasting Room sales trends and develop creative ways to increase sales (i.e. promotions, events, etc.)
8. Oversee shipping to customers and wine club members. Coordinate routine shipments of online wine sales orders, in addition to quarterly wine club membership allocations. Implement tools to increase e-Commerce (i.e. Vinoshipper, etc.)
9. Draft newsletters, maintain social media presence and website content. Manage social media content on all platforms (i.e. Instagram, Facebook, Google, Yelp, Open Table, etc.) developing engaging posts to promote a positive consumer market reputation, increase sales, Tasting Room traffic and wine club enrollment.
10. Ability to work most weekends and some holidays. Must be able to personally work 90% of weekends in which the establishment is open for business.
11. General compliance. Investigate government requirements and complete necessary steps to maintain compliance (i.e. OSHA, TTB, ABC, etc.)

Desired Qualifications:
1. 3+ years of hospitality, food and beverage or retail management experience
2. Proven experience in sales and marketing
3. Experience in POS system set-up and management
