Jarvis Communications is a boutique wine and spirits media relations agency working in a tight-knit, team-oriented environment, and our work garners well-thought-out editorial coverage for our clients in national media. We’re looking for a talented and self-motivated individual with at least 3 years direct PR agency experience in wine and spirits, looking to advance their career in a mid-level management and leadership role with one of the leading agencies in the United States. The nature and scope of the position includes strategic development and execution of wine and spirits PR campaigns based on agency knowledge and experience in the sector; management of account teams (account coordinators and account executives), writing and editing press releases and press materials, development of creative ideas our clients can use to set themselves apart in the media, building media lists, actively pitching our clients to journalists on the phone and in person, keeping track and managing all media activity for clients, organizing and hosting press trips, keeping abreast of top wine, food, travel, lifestyle and business writers, and occasional domestic and international travel to host media related events, attend conferences, or meet with clients in person. Our ideal candidate is very hard working, kind, extremely creative, detail oriented, organized, fun, enthusiastic, energetic, practical and always curious. They read the news and have an awareness of everything from Cabernet to current events and pop culture.
Required Skills
Must be passionate about wine, spirits, food and travel and want to tell everyone you know about your discoveries
Must have at least 3 years of direct PR agency experience in wine and spirits
Strong written and oral communication skills
Intermediate to advanced skills in the MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint
Adobe Photoshop, ACT, Cision, Muckrack, Slack
Social media platform knowledge and proven track record of engagement and best practices
Exceptional customer service skills
Exceptional organizational skills (details!)
Prioritizes, plans, and takes initiative without direction
Works productively in a team environment
Intimate knowledge of wine, spirits and travel industry trends, and media outlets
Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
Must be comfortable sitting at a computer/desk 6+ hours a day
Must have a valid CA drivers license
Salary starting $70,000/year; Health insurance and simple IRA matching plan are offered, generous PTO including summer Fridays and birthdays off, and so many other perks! Hybrid schedule offered after 6 months of employment.
