Europress - Franz Scharfenberger Pneumatic Membrane Press Model EHP2200, purchased in 1993. With a capacity of 3-5 tons depending on varietal and whole-cluster/de-stemmed fruit, this press features a single food-grade inflatable membrane, a stainless steel perforated drum, a solid stainless steel frame and an integrated compressor. The loading door is manually operated and automatic pressure cycles are set via the manual switches on the control panel. The gauges on the control panel show signs of wear and are hard to read. Since it was originally purchased, the press was serviced yearly by an Europress specialized technician to ensure proper maintenance and functioning. We replaced the membrane once, bearings and seals regularly due to normal degradation over time. Pressing is gentle and the build is robust. This is a great work horse press.
