Job purpose
The Procurement Manager coordinates and orders supplies to keep bottling lines on schedule. The role provides quality leadership by modeling expected behaviors within the company and with supplier relationships. Working closely with the team, co-packers, production, and winemaking, the manager leads packaging initiatives and supports innovation, and reduction in COGs. The position also leads and participates in continuous improvement efforts across safety, quality, environmental performance, delivery, and cost; ensures the highest bottling quality-control standards; and helps the production and winemaking teams meet or exceed their objectives.

Essential Functions
•  Purchases and tracks all bottling line materials, such as but not limited to: printed shippers, labels, capsules, corks, screwcaps, case labels, shrink wrap, hot melt glue.
•  Utilizes proficient report writing skills to document events, activities, and packaging machinery research, testing package protocols and KPIs.
•  Tracks critical equipment control points and improves on efficiencies or supports the need for new equipment with efficiency reports and data.
•  Assists with mock up packages and sales support.
•  Ensures compliance with all TTB, ABC, and County permits for each co-packer.
•  Ensures traceability of the finished wine. Plans, implements, controls, and maintains the processes necessary to meet Shannon Family of Wines’ standards
•  Works in tandem with winemaking to ensure wine quality standards are upheld and continuously improved.
•  Responsible for communicating any potential or realized problems with wine product, wine packaging, packaging equipment or personnel to necessary management.
•  Works under guidance of production/purchasing to execute new and innovative packages
•  Addresses and resolves all packaging defects and issues immediately.
•  Understands and demonstrates ability to act on Emergency Response Plan (drills, actual). Takes lead during, or coordinating first aid incidents.
•  Responsible for ensuring a safe working environment. Takes immediate action to correct safety issues and notifies leadership.
•  Identifies continuous improvement opportunities within the following categories: Safety, People, Quality, Environment, Delivery and Cost.
•  Occasional travel to different bottling sites for inspection, inventory counts and bottling reports.
•  Responsible for executing the Bottling Schedule. Participates in planning standard work and ensures tactical decisions are executed on time and accurately as issues arise. Understands the impact of scheduling changes and minimizes perturbations while coordinating changes.
•  Manages multitasking numerous ongoing projects.
•  Acts as a team player focused on team building concepts, taking direction well.
•  Special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
•  High School diploma or G.E.D.
•  Previous bottling line or packaging line maintenance experience essential.
•  Ability to work safely, including proper handling techniques for hazardous substances and use of personal protective equipment.
•  Organizational skills and the ability to follow through on projects with minimal supervision.
•  Strong analytical skills.
•  Strong and proven work ethic.
•  Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Suit and Google
•  Good communication and listening skills.

•  Good judgment with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.

•  Ability to perform the physical labor necessary.
•  Ability to problem solve, especially when handling conflict situations.
•  Bilingual a plus: English and Spanish (read, write, speak, and understand).

Working conditions
This is an exempt salary position, usually 40 hours per week, 5 days a week (Monday – Friday), weekends when needed. There may be times when there will be longer or shorter days/weeks. Schedule is very dependent on the time of year and demands of our clients. Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments; exposure to wet, slippery or humid conditions. Exposure to inclement seasonal weather, summer heat and cold weather, rain. Exposure to high noise levels while working with cellar operation. Exposure to chemicals and machinery required to process wine.
