Assistant Winemaker
Job Description:
Established Willamette Valley winery seeks experienced and ambitious assistant winemaker. Responsible for all aspects of winemaking in a hands-on role. Assistant winemaker will work directly with Winemaker to produce wines that express the varietal character of cool-climate grapes.
Requirements: 5 year production experience and degree in wine-related field. Demonstrated leadership and training ability. Positive attitude and problem-solving personality. Applicants should have a strong work ethic, understand proper sanitation, able to operate a wide range of filtration equipment. Candidates should be able to operate a forklift with proficiency, operate pumps of various types. Candidate should have experience in set up, sanitation and operation of a bottling line. Lab work including running trials, SO2, ph, TA, VA, ethanol, sterility plating and more are necessary skills. Spectrometer and other lab skills essential. Computer skills including winery record keeping (InnoVint/Vintrace), Excel and Office.
Candidate should have experience with all winery equipment from crush to bottling.
Position will require applicant to work weekends and evenings during crush and overtime hours at various times of the year.
This is a hands-on position. Candidate should be prepared to work on their feet in wet, uncomfortable, and physically challenging conditions. Duties will include repeatedly lifting 50lbs.
