Pride Mountain Vineyards is a family-owned and operated winery perched high atop the Mayacamas Mountains between Napa and Sonoma counties. After 20+ years, our Shipping Manager is retiring, and we are looking for just the right person to fill his shoes.
Not just a warehouse job (although it includes that, too), this position is critical to upholding our high-touch service ethic and requires a tireless commitment to service and excellence in every aspect of the business that it touches. Key Responsibilities:
Shipping
• Release DTC orders for shipment in keeping with the winery’s safe-shipping weather parameters
• Pack and ship DTC, event and wholesale orders that require special handling from the winery warehouse
• Pack and schedule pickups for Will Call orders going to off-site storage facilities and follow up with customers with overdue orders to pick up
• Address returned shipments promptly
• Ensure all aspects of the fulfillment and delivery process and uphold the winery’s highest standards
• Promptly respond to customer shipping inquiries via email and phone in a friendly and professional manner
• Reach out to customers proactively regarding shipping delays, non-compliant orders, etc.
• Assist hospitality staff with shipping issues, questions and special requests
• Consistently look for ways to expand the level of service we offer during the fulfillment process to elevate the delivery experience even further
Warehouse Operations
• Maintain a neat, clean and organized winery warehouse environment
• Ensure that there is sufficient inventory of current and library wines at the winery to support pouring, cash and carry orders, winery direct shipping, samples and owner use
• Schedule transfers of wine between warehouses as necessary
• Source, order and maintain sufficient inventory of winery warehouse shipping supplies
• Source, order and maintain sufficient inventory of boxes and bags for the tasting room
• Inventory wine at all warehouses as scheduled by the CFO and investigate discrepancies as directed
Bottling
• Schedule mobile bottling contractors for six annual bottlings
• Order bottling tent and pallet wrapper for each bottling
• Communicate with off-site warehouses before each bottling and schedule transport for bottled wine
• Coordinate with the Production Enologist on scheduling, ordering, receiving and inventorying of package components (glass, labels, corks, etc.)
• Accurately inventory wine after bottling and report to Winemaker, Production Enologist and CFO
• Manage etching and transportation of large format bottles
Operational Support
• Assist Director of Marketing with 5 annual club shipments by reviewing special instructions and compliance issues and updating orders as indicated
• Assist Director of Marketing with 5 annual wine release events by reviewing unpaid orders and addressing failed compliance issues and special instructions before paying orders
• Analyze current shipping rates annually and report to CFO and Director of Business
Position Requirements:
Education and Professional Requirements
• 3+ years of relevant warehouse management, logistics and shipping experience
• Comprehensive understanding of wine-specific compliance and shipping logistics
• Customer service experience
• High level of proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and Outlook
• Ability to establish shareable calendars and spreadsheets to track shipping and bottling responsibilities
• eCellar, ShipCompliant, Wineshipping ACP and FedEx Ship Manager experience preferred
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
General Requirements
• Valid California driver's license and clean driving record
• Prior forklift certification
• Willingness to comply with PMV’s safety policies and training requirements
• Ability to read, write and speak English clearly
• Demonstrably strong work ethic
• Ability to maintain a calm, friendly and professional demeanor in challenging situations
• Ability, willingness and interest in solving problems and delivering solutions in a positive manner
Physical Requirements
• Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position, including but not limited to: standing for extended periods; kneeling, stooping and climbing; lifting and carrying 40 lbs. up to 75 feet; using a pallet jack to push and pull weights of up to 2,000 pounds
• Ability to work in warehouse conditions for extended periods
• Ability to sit and work at a desk for extended periods
• Sufficient hand, wrist and finger dexterity/strength to operate a mouse, keyboard and tape gun
• Sufficient visual acuity for close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus
• Ability to speak audibly and hear clearly at normal conversational levels
