SUMMARY
Everything begins with the Host. Often the first-person guests and members interact with, the Host sets the tone for a warm, welcoming, and memorable visit. This role is responsible for greeting guests, managing reservations, coordinating seating, and maintaining smooth guest flow throughout the tasting room. The Host helps create an experience that reflects our commitment to hospitality, professionalism, and excellence leaving a lasting impression and supporting the continued success of our winery.
WORK SCHEDULE: This is a part-time position scheduled for 3 to 4 days per week. Weekend availability is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure our guests and members are promptly and warmly greeted, setting a positive tone for their visit.
• Anticipate and arrange seating, working closely with both guests and wine educators to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience.
• Ensure tables are set and polished glassware is in place before guests are seated, upholding our standards for presentation and service.
• Stay informed of our food and wine experiences and our overall brand story, providing our guests with informed and engaging service.
• Keep the host stand tidy, organized, and reflective of our high standards of hospitality.
• Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and a guest-first mindset at all times living the Gloria Ferrer Core Values.
• Support the Tasting Room team by helping keep retail displays organized, restocking wine, and maintaining clean, welcoming shared spaces.
• Provide support during special events, as needed.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure that the Gloria Ferrer Culture is consistently supported in all business and employee interactions. Including ethical and legal aspects, compliant with state and federal law and GF policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• High school diploma or GED preferred; one to three years of related customer service or hospitality experience strongly desired, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid RBS Certification required (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Previous experience in retail, food and beverage, or front-of-house hospitality is a plus.
• Friendly, professional demeanor with a strong focus on guest service in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable using computers and tablets (iPad); familiarity with TOCK or similar reservation platforms is a plus.
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to interact effectively and warmly with guests, coworkers, and management.
• Proactive mindset with the ability to anticipate guest needs and take initiative without being prompted.
• Basic math, reading, and writing skills required.
• Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and during peak business hours as needed to support the team.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk, talk, and hear. The role also involves frequent use of hands to operate touchscreens (iPad), handle glassware, and perform light cleaning and setup tasks.
• Must be able to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per shift.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 48 pounds (e.g., case of wine, wine boxes, trays, or supplies).
• Must be able to navigate indoor and outdoor areas, including walking on uneven surfaces and climbing stairs.
• Must be comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments, including during varying weather conditions.
• Must have visual and auditory ability to engage with guests and team members clearly and safely.
• Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts as required by business needs.
