POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Harvest Cellar Intern to join our team at Ridge Vineyards’ Monte Bello in the Santa Cruz Mountains for Harvest 2025. As a Harvest Cellar Intern, you will play a vital role in the winemaking process, contributing to the production of high-quality wines while working in a dynamic and collaborative environment. You will work closely with our Production team at our Monte Bello Estate in Cupertino, CA. You may occasionally be asked to travel to our Lytton Springs Estate in Healdsburg, CA. Ideal candidates will thrive in diverse and dynamic environments, from the vineyard to the cellar, and possess a strong commitment to upholding the ideals and objectives of Ridge Vineyards. The role requires individuals who are willing to work long hours, often in physically demanding conditions, and who are dedicated to contributing to the high standards of quality and excellence that Ridge Vineyards is known for.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with the preparation and on-going cleaning of harvest equipment such as crush pad equipment, presses, tanks, barrels, hoses, pumps, etc.

Collect grape samples in the vineyard for maturity analysis

Assist in grape receival and fruit sorting on the crush pad

Perform punch downs and pump overs on fermentation vessels in the winery

Safely operate mechanical equipment

Collect Brix and Temperature data from fermentation tanks and accurately record this data on fermentation charts

Collect must and wine samples from tanks and barrels for the laboratory

Other duties may be assigned depending on winery needs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Strong work ethic and interest in wine

Highly organized and detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving

Excellent communication and teamwork skills, but can also work independently

Ability to lift 50lbs, stand, bend, and walk on a regular basis, occasionally climb ladders and catwalks

Maintain a regular, full-time schedule that includes overtime, weekends and holidays as needed

Hold a valid driver’s license and possess a clean driving record

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Previous experience in winemaking or cellar operations, especially during the harvest season

Spanish language proficiency

$23 hourly rate (with opportunities for overtime pay during harvest)
